English AdjunctSalary: $5,000 - $6,000 per 5 credit hoursClassification: Adjunct FacultyReports to: Dean of Social Sciences & Humanities *This recruitment is to establish an applicant pool for future vacancies. Individuals will be contacted as vacancies occur. * Olympic College is continuously recruiting English Adjunct Faculty (part-time) to primarily teach composition and research courses at its Bremerton Campus. Olympic College seeks applicants who are dedicated to student-centered learning, closing achievement gaps, supporting diversity and social justice learning opportunities, and who employ data-informed decision-making in their instruction. Part-time positions at the college are open continuously and reviewed on a quarter-by-quarter basis.   • Teach primarily English composition course(s) in accordance with the college catalog, use agreed-upon course outlines, develop course syllabi in alignment with English 101 and 102 Student Learning Outcomes and departmental guidelines, and possibly teach Development English.
  • Teach evening, distance, and branch campus courses when required.
  • Provide quality teaching including related preparation, grading, and record-keeping for assigned classes.
  • Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes by the first day and to the division office by the 10th day of each quarter.
  • Contribute to English Assessment efforts as needed.
  • Respond to students' queries in a timely fashion.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.
  • Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in English from an accredited college or university.
  • English composition teaching experience.
  • Proficiency in learning management systems such as Canvas.
  • Desired Qualifications

  • College-level teaching experience.
  • Coursework in Composition/Rhetoric.

    Terms of EmploymentPlease note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered.
    Faculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment.

    This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments including travel to clinical sites may be a part of the instructional load.
    Adjuncts are not eligible for benefits upon their initial hire. Adjunct faculty must work 50 percent of a full-time load for two consecutive quarters to become eligible. Additional hours earned at other SBCTC colleges may count towards this requirement. Adjuncts are not initially eligible for benefits upon hire but could qualify for the following.
