What You'll Contribute to OHM Advisors

As a Construction Intern or Co-op student, you will work alongside experienced engineers and technicians who will provide training, direction, and guidance. Primary duties will utilize entry-level skills to oversee and document construction projects. OHM Advisors' internship and co-op program encourage students to submit their resume and inquire about an opportunity that would best fit their needs. Internships are available year-round and typically last up to four months. Co-op students follow their university's co-op rotation schedule.

Your Responsibilities

Assist Construction Teams with the following tasks

  • Perform daily field inspections of construction work and prepare daily work reports
  • Track and measure daily pay items to cover Contractor's work for each day
  • Interpret construction drawings and specifications on construction projects
  • Determine if encountered field conditions require a change to the construction contract
  • Exposure to implementing RFI's submittals and shop drawings into real-world construction projects
  • Perform a wide variety of materials testing, including concrete, aggregates, and density testing both in the field and lab settings
  • Track and record as-built information for incorporation into project record drawings
  • Communicate with the project team throughout the process.
  • Exercise safe work methods.
  • Demonstrate strong project organization skills.
  • Positively represent the company to all members of the public

What You'll Need to Succeed
  • Current enrollment in college studying - Civil Engineering, Environmental, Surveying, Construction Technology or Construction Management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, with emphasis on Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • A positive attitude, and eagerness to learn
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills
  • Capable of working as a team member with other disciplines
  • Able to work at least 40 hours per week.
