Job Type: Full Time Contract, Onsite
Pay Range: $45/hr on W2 (must be able to work on W2 without sponsorship)


Please note that actual compensation may vary within this range due to factors such as location, experience, and job responsibilities, and does not encompass additional non-standard compensation (e.g., benefits, paid time off, per diem, etc.).

Major Purpose
Provides quality planning, control, and improvement support for product development teams, manufacturing engineering, supply management, and manufacturing and/or distribution organizations to assure John Deere product quality meets the customers' expectations. This includes the application of quality tools within the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP), Enterprise Order Fulfillment Process (EOFP) and Customer Support Process (CSP). Also supports application of quality tools with key suppliers as an integral element of quality planning.

Major Duties
- Contribute to the analysis of information and the specification of the methods and process steps, as well as the plant, machinery, and equipment, required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems to deliver the end product within specified cost and quality parameters.
- Contribute to the design of engineering solutions; design the feasibility testing approach and supervise its implementation to support the development and validation of engineering solutions.

  • - Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the drafting of engineering standards and specifications and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards.
  • - Carry out inspections under the supervision of senior colleagues to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and make recommendations to senior colleagues on the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • - Deliver required outcomes by coordinating activities of subcontractors and suppliers and acting as a primary point of contact for them while working within an established contract management plan.
  • - Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them.
  • - Help others get the most out of knowledge management systems by offering support and advice.
  • - Carry out a range of product development and engineering activities. Use established systems to analyze customer needs and define and deliver products.
  • - Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.
  • - Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.

Manager is open to true recent grads with applicable experience.
BA in Engineer or Technical Degree preferred. Manager is willing to hire a highly experienced candidate who does not have a BA.

As an OFP (Order Fulfillment Process) Quality Engineer for John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline, IL, you will directly support the manufacturing operations of an assembly department in a shop floor environment. Manage daily quality calls from multiple product lines, determine root cause and implement both short-term and long-term corrective actions for defects found in a timely manner. Provide clear and timely communication to management, operations, and cross functional teams for active quality issues.

Additionally, you will..

- Lead quality planning and execution discussions, including risk analysis, risk mitigation, control plans, dimensional analysis, and strategic quality improvements. Maintain current and historical quality performance documentation metrics.
- Lead and actively participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) process on the shop floor - improving and implementing departmental Safety, Quality, Efficiency, Delivery, Ergonomic and Cost reduction projects.
- Work closely with cross functional teams, suppliers, and product design to drive inherent quality into our processes and products.

Must Have Skills:

- Experience demonstrating technical aptitude in one of the following areas: hydraulics, powertrain, electrical, welding, assembly, manufacturing, or product validation.
- Experience with root cause analysis, National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA, 8D) Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), corrective action, mistake proofing or digital process control tools.
- Ability to be a self-starter who can execute multiple tasks in parallel with little supervision.
- Ability to gather, analyze, and summarize trend data to make sound decisions.
- Ability to interpret production trend or defect data and convert into meaningful quality inspections and process control. Product quality experience - interpreting Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) measurement reports or similar dimensional inspection toolsets, control plan development or process/product-based risk mitigation.
- Experienced working with external suppliers or customers to contain and resolve quality non-conformances.

- Experience in quality, manufacturing, operations in a shop floor environment.
- Experience with structure design, processes, and tooling.
- Knowledge of drawing and schematic interpretation, product models, GD&T.
- Experience in one or more related engineering areas: design, manufacturing, quality, development, industrial or reliability.
- Experience with engineering tools, systems, and databases such as SAP, CREO, AutoCAD, MES.
- ASQ certification as Quality Engineer, Auditor, or Six Sigma Certified.
