Overview
Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI) is seeking an Electrical/Computer Engineering Intern for its Monroeville, PA location for summer 2023.
Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI) is a project engineering organization and a Prime Contractor for the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. BPMI provides design, manufacturing, and supply chain management of the fabrication, testing, delivery, installation, and field support of nuclear power plant components installed in submarines and aircraft carriers for the US Navy. In addition, BPMI provides upgraded replacement components in support of refueling and overhaul activities, and aids in the ultimate storage and disposition of spent naval fuel. BPMI also delivers information technology and operational solutions to the Nuclear Navy, enabling them to fulfill their critical mission.
Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI) employs several electrical engineering interns each summer. The application process for BPMI's internships begins the summer prior to student eligibility. For example, if an electrical engineering student will complete their sophomore or junior year of college in May 2023, their application for consideration must be submitted by February 7, 2023. This is due to the length of time required to receive the Federal security clearance required to work at BPMI.
What You Can Expect:
Close Mentoring - Participants are assigned a sponsor during their co-op at BPMI, who will assist them with their day-to-day efforts and provide a more in-depth perspective of BPMI and assignments. This sponsor, along with a manager, will provide guidance and training on the specifics of BPMI's business and operation.
Training - Co-ops are provided with various training opportunities in several areas including engineering, nuclear propulsion support operations, project management, and technical writing.
Shipyard Tour - BPMI's co-op coordinators take our co-ops to Newport News Shipbuilding in Virginia for a one-day shipyard tour. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to see aircraft carriers, submarines, servicing facilities, and other areas of interest. The tour allows our co-ops to gain a better appreciation of what the work at BPMI supports and how extensive the Navy program really is.
