Job Description

We are looking for an Educational Programs Coordinatorto support lifespan programming, including infant, children, adolescent, and women's health. This position will be part-time contract and onsite.

What You'll Do

  • Attend staff meetings, including meetings with federal grant overseers, various stakeholder meetings, and more
  • Create communication and data visualization materials including infographics and presentations
  • Assist with grant writing and editing
  • Collaborate with external partners on various research and educational projects
  • Participate in job shadowing with other IDOH divisions and public health professionals
  • Attend public health conferences, maternal & child health (MCH) related community events, and district MCH meetings
  • Support surveillance projects including the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System, Youth Risk Behavior Survey, School Health Profiles, and Title V Needs Assessment
  • Support other division efforts as necessary

What You'll Need

Required:
  • Interest in Maternal and Child Health
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable with public speaking (giving presentations)
  • Ability to work in a team environment, with multiple and fluid demands
  • Ability to engage with members of different communities
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to summarize large amounts of information and identify key ideas
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and be detail oriented

Preferred:
  • Knowledge of public health terminology

Physical Demands
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
  • Work will take place indoors in a routine office environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the intern is regularly required to: stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
  • Light to moderate lifting is required Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers)
  • Ability to work in a confined area (cubicle)
  • Ability to sit at a computer for an extended period of time
