Network Engineers at Meta are hybrid software/network engineers who ensure that Meta's network and related services run smoothly and have the capacity for future growth. Data Analytics, network (re)design, and automation are keys to meeting our demands; you will be responsible for conceiving, developing, and deploying software and network systems and tools that improve reliability and efficiency in our global network.Meta is one of the largest sources of traffic on the planet, which makes getting traffic to our end users quickly and reliably one of the most demanding network engineering tasks ever conceived. Edge Production Network Engineer - BBE-IP Responsibilities:

• Write and review code, develop documentation and capacity plans, and debug the hardest problems, live, on some of the largest and most complex networks and systems in the world
• Together with your engineering team, you will share an on-call rotation and be an escalation contact for service incidents
• (Re)Design, manage and maintain multi-vendor, multi-protocol edge networks that serve Meta's suite of applications: Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Cloud Gaming, Metaverse, and more
• Optimize end user experience by architecting the network to lower latency, packet loss, and jitter while increasing scale
• Define and develop optimized network monitoring systems
• Design and deploy new network and tooling architectures
• Analyze data to diagnose and identify root causes to network issues
• Partner alongside the best engineers in the industry on the coolest stuff around - the code and systems you work on will be in production and used by billions of users all around the world

Minimum Qualifications:

• Knowledge of TCP/IP versions 4 and 6
• Experience in configuration and maintenance of network devices, NMS systems, load balancers, or optical systems
• Experience learning software, frameworks, and APIs
• Experience configuring at least one routing/switching vendor (Juniper, Cisco, Arista, Brocade, Ciena, Infinera, etc.)
• Understanding of routing and switching - hardware design and knowledge of forwarding and data planes
• Experience coding in higher-level languages (e.g. Python, C++, Go, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience negotiating and configuring peering
• Experience automating network configuration changes, provisioning systems, or alerting systems
• Engineering degree, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience
• Experience understanding and mitigating network hardware and topology failures
• Experience working on Content Distribution Networks (CDNs)
• Experience using MPLS on continent scale networks
