Job Description

The driver would be responsible for safely transporting hazardous and non-hazardous materials from the customer site to the appropriate sites using van trailers, straight trucks, flatbeds, tankers, roll-off frames, or other waste carrying equipment. The driver will ensure that the condition of the material packaging meets the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) specifications, inspects manifests and shipping paperwork for accuracy, and maintains current transportation permits for all areas traveled. Abides by all regulations set forth by DOT, EPA, state and local governments, and Veolia policies and procedures. Responsibilities include daily inspections of vehicles and equipment, manifesting, packaging, spill response, vacuum projects, waste handling, labeling, loading/unloading, and coordinating transportation while adhering to state and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations. This is a hands-on position that requires strong communication/customer service skills as well as computer skills to use ELDs and use of scanners to track/log all of the materials being transported and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to wear a respirator and other personal protective equipment as needed. Ability to multi-task and be self-sufficient. The position requires daily local travel, overnight stays, and extended work hours. Typically home on weekends.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:
 A High School diploma or General Education Development (GED) is required.
 Experience in the hazardous waste industry preferred.
Certification/Licenses:
 40-Hour HAZWOPER training preferred
 Commercial Driver's License (Class B Required, Class A Preferred) with tankers & hazardous materials endorsement required.

 Time management: ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines.
