At Meta Reality Labs, we are developing the future of Portal, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) products. As a Display Engineer, you will be a member of our RL Hardware development Engineering organization, taking a lead in display panel optical design/process to set the technical goals, be the point of contact and interface to the product development team, lead the development of leading-edge technologies and designs, and work with the current and evolving ecosystem to provide differentiating capabilities to our HW platforms. You will be part of a group of highly talented engineers at the forefront of innovation for our VR products.

Display Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Lead engineering activities on advanced display design for new display applications
  • Work closely with cross functional teams and external display partners to develop the future of display technologies and bring up design for new panel products
  • Collaborating with internal and external partners, choose appropriate technology nodes, develop specialty processes, and customize pixel design
  • Together with vendors and cross functional teams, debug and fix process or device issues, implement inline, offline monitoring, improve reliability and yield
  • Identify risks, track and resolve issues through various phases of production
  • Resolve design and flow issues related with circuit and pixel design, identify potential solutions and drive execution
  • Design and integrate new display technologies into products from the prototype phase to mass production
  • Travel up to 25% internationally

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MS degree in Optical, Photonics, Physics, Electrical Engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience or equivalent industry work experience
  • Proven track of record on development and implementation of innovative LCD, or AMOLED (Glass, PI and Silicon substrate) or other display solutions for consumer electronics
  • Effective communication skills and cross-functional teamwork skills
  • Experience in design DOE design, data analysis, yield improvement, root cause investigation, FACA, quality control
  • Track-record of ownership in designing and delivering consumer products
  • Experience in at least one of : display panel architecture, TFT backplane process, system integration, test, debugging and analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in other display processes, such as CMOS or TFT array process and OLED process
  • Experience in mass production silicon processes or process integration
  • Experience validating digital IPs of DDIC with display panels, and optimize them for application to mass production
  • Experience implementing display algorithms with digital IPs through RTL programming
  • Experience with simulation models with tools such as optical design SW or analog circuit design or RTL programming
  • Experience in display panel or optical performance development such as display optical components color science, display optical metrology, photometry, and colorimetry. Familiar with optical, color, metrology, and electrical simulation/measurement/knowledge
  • In-depth knowledge of AMLCD TFT, LC cell design or AMOLED and production process working with mainstream AMLCD or AMOLED vendors
  • PhD degree in Optical, Photonics, Physics, Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of experience or equivalent industry work experience
  • In-depth knowledge of AMOLED display optics technology with hands-on project deliverable experience
  • Established technical background for OLED optics and experience leading uOLED optics development
