General Summary:

Responsible for leading the Human Resources talent management and development function. Partner with the CHRO on the development and implementation of strategies and opportunities for workforce planning initiatives. Oversee the recruitment and retention of a diverse workforce by attracting and developing talent. Responsible for leading the coordination and execution of leadership training programs for staff. Oversee two components of Wellesley's Whole You initiative for employee wellness: employee engagement and employee development and recognition

Primary Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Staff Employment, Student Employment and Faculty recruitment functions. Manage the work of the Talent Management team employees, including the Talent Operations Specialist, Student Employment and Engagement Program Manager, Onboarding and Enrollment Specialist, and Office Coordinator. Analyze the success of strategic recruitment and retention efforts through data analytics and other feedback mechanisms and make recommendations for emerging strategy.

  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand objectives and analyze talent need for workforce effectiveness. Recommend improvements with regards to talent acquisition, development and engagement. The Director is responsible for supporting hiring managers and faculty chairs on the full employment process from recruitment to onboarding of new employees. The Director develops and implements recruitment strategies and programs that cultivate a robust and inclusive work environment for faculty and administrative staff.

  • Enhance and execute HR's Diversity & Inclusion strategy to enhance diversity recruiting efforts, strengthen the internal community, build external partnerships, and develop inclusive programming. These efforts include implementing bias in hiring trainings and communications, building external partnerships to grow employment brand, continuing to review and create more inclusive programs including Community Conversations programs and the Wellesley SEED (Seeking Educational Equity & Diversity) program, and evaluating outcomes. Support the Wellesley College Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), including in their development and budgeting needs. Conducts exit interviews and tracks information related to employee turnover.

  • Administers the recruitment process by developing compelling job profiles, sourcing candidates effectively using internal and external advertising, screening potential candidates, providing support throughout the interview process, and performing reference checks. Provides excellent customer service and follow up throughout the search process. In partnership with the Budget Office, Talent Operations Specialist and Compensation Analyst, confirms position funding sources and maintains position control through Workday Human Capital Management system.

  • Implements current leadership development programs and presents enhanced opportunities for development including mentoring. Assess current learning and development programs and develop and implement creative and innovative training solutions, using a variety of techniques, to meet the developmental needs of the community. Implement an improved performance management program. Educate the community on the importance of performance management and development. Manages the Wellesley Staff Recognition program and Service Anniversary program celebration events.

Supervises:
  • The Talent Operations Specialist, Student Employment and Engagement Program Manager, Onboarding and Enrollment Specialist, and Office Coordinator.

Education Required:
  • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred.

Experience Required:
  • 7+ years of progressive responsibility and demonstrated expertise in talent management, recruiting, employment, engagement and development.
  • Proven experience working across environments with diverse constituent groups.
  • Experience as a strategic leader with strong supervisory skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • SHRM certification preferred.

Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Proficient in MS office applications and experience with e-learning development tools, and delivery of training through multiple mediums.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of current training, learning theory and practice, assessment and organizational development models and technologies
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices associated with applicable federal, state, and local employment and workplace regulations. This includes: Title IX, FLSA, ADA, FMLA, ERISA, OSHA, ADEA
  • Strong organizational skills and a results orientation

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and strategically in a team
