The Operational Design Center (ODC) is a capability within Global Development Operations. Our vision is to bring innovative medicines to patients faster by improving clinical study operational effectiveness and efficiency through informed, data-driven decision making. The Director, R&D Clinical Design Lead will engage with study teams and extended stakeholders to define key business questions, orchestrate and drive on-time delivery of analytic insights, and provide recommendations to optimize Phase I-III study design, operational plans, and study delivery. Through close collaboration with stakeholders and cross-functional teams, the incumbent will ensure processes are efficient, and that solutions are fit-for-purpose and deliver actionable insights that will guide strategic decision making and/or unlock operational optimization opportunities. In partnership with strategy, data science, analytics, and technical teams, the Director, R&D Clinical Design Lead will have the opportunity to evolve existing analytics as well as prioritize, shape, and develop novel analytics to address evolving stakeholder needs. A bold, brave, and curious mindset will be advantageous.

Who you are:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience, Master's degree with 5+ years of experience OR PhD with 3+ years of experience in biopharmaceutical R&D setting with excellent understanding of the R&D process from discovery through clinical development.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, or PhD in Biology, Pharmacology, Medicine, or related fieldExperience with clinical development in a biopharmaceutical R&D setting; experience in oncology, neurology, and immunology a plusStrong working knowledge of Phase I - III study design, operational feasibility, operational planning, enrollment scenario modeling; familiarity with data sources and related analyticsExtensive experience preparing and presenting complex ideas to non-technical audiences; skilled at telling a story with dataDemonstrated success with process and workflow optimization to drive efficiency while maintaining high qualityDemonstrated success managing and delivering multiple projects simultaneouslyExceptional interpersonal skills; able to communicate clearly, persuade, negotiate, and moderate conflictProactively addresses and manages risks and issue escalationStrong team player and collaborator; demonstrated success working with multidisciplinary and multicultural, geographically dispersed teams within a matrix organization.Established, deep contextual knowledge of business and technical domains - awareness of current and future needs of stakeholders, and trends and developments within the pharma industry and beyond related to study design, operational feasibility and operational planningAbility to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of time
