Director of Pharmacy Informatics, MMA Rx Solutions

As Director, Pharmacy Informatics for MMA Rx Solutions,) you will be an integral part of our pharmacy center of excellence team and work closely as the liaison with our clinical center of excellence, PATH (Planning and Analytics for Total Health). Leveraging pharmacy data from different data systems and detailed NDC11 files, you will develop pharmacy reports, dashboards and benchmarking to help employers understand their pharmacy spend, its drivers, and opportunities to address.

To thrive in this role, you should have a minimum of 10 years of employee pharmacy benefits consulting experience with a benefits consultant, pharmacy benefits manager, broker, health plan, or health system. Candidates will understand key pharmacy performance measures and indicators that drive reporting and analysis across key data sources, particularly medical and pharmacy claims. Exposure and experience to claims for disability and leave, worker's compensation, wellness and other data in the benefits space is a plus. Ideal candidates will have a strong knowledge of the dynamics of group pharmacy and health benefits and experience in a data warehouse environment (Artemis Health, others) as well as utilizing detailed NDC11 files, as well as at least several years of presenting such data and its core findings to employers. Great communication skills are required and the ability to translate data into meaningful information in reports/presentation to various internal and external stakeholders is a must.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Drive the development and framework of the pharmacy reporting and dashboards.
  • Provide analysis on pharmacy cost and utilization data to help identify emerging trends and work with the MMA Rx Solutions team to develop savings opportunities and/or improved health of members.
  • Be directly involved in pharmacy discussions during relevant client meetings with both the pharmacy and PATH teams and utilize the strategies of MMA Rx Solutions to drive cost savings.
  • Develop strong working relationships and be aligned with the MMA Rx Solutions regional directors and PATH clinical consultants.
  • Support business development activities for MMA Rx Solutions and MMA in general.
  • Monitor and evaluate drug trends for MMA clients across industries, geographies and employer size and work with the MMA Rx Solutions team and other colleagues to develop strategies that reduce pharmacy cost and risk.
  • Work with the Director of Pharmacy Clinical Services and Rx Solutions' actuaries and to assess the value and impact of the prior authorization, utilization management and other clinical programs offered by the PBMs and independent organizations to identify strategies for clients.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective presentation skills.
  • Excellent analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in interpreting complex data sets and developing accurate conclusions.
  • Proficiency required in interpreting drug literature and clinical trial evaluation.
  • Ability to reason and translate complex information into a manner appropriate for clinical and non-clinical audiences.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of formulary managed care systems, principles and practices (e.g., DUR and prior authorization)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willing to travel 25% - 35% of the time.
  • Accredited College bachelor's degree required; PharmD also required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a clinical advisor for a pharmacy benefit management company, health plan or large human resources consulting firm.
  • Registered and licensed pharmacist
