PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION: The Director of Recreation oversees the activity staff and van drivers to create and coordinate programs that capture resident interest. The Director of Recreation works to coordinate, implement, and evaluate the Windemere activity programs to enhance the resident's experience, while developing and maintaining relationships with community organizations, current residents, and family members.

DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY:
As the Director of Recreation, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENT / DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Payroll for Recreation Staff
MDS/Assessments/Progress Notes/Care Plans
Log Book, Resident Activity log
Deliver Resident Mail and read to them, if appropriate
Monthly Activity calendar
Coordinate activity time, date and activities with 95 volunteers
Fill out forms for Dietary for activities that include food, three copies for each activity
Speak to families about their concerns and requests
Order clothes for the residents, as needed
Work with Community to schedule Outings/In-house program (i.e. Sailing, Horseback Riding, Swimming, Coast Guard Dinner, High School Prom etc.)
Outings, and all that entails
Meetings
Ordering Supplies for activities for individual residents as needed
Ordering supplies for activities
Transporting residents to in-house activities
In-service as required
Dietary Activity calendar
In charge of petty cash funds
In charge of residents personal needs account funds
Initiate Resident Council Meetings, follow-ups, keep minutes
Public relations for Windemere with Community
Facilitate auction, solicit items for Auction, work with Community, Families and Development
Work with local newspapers for articles about Windemere
Coordinate Christmas festivities. Arrange for 65 presents for residents
QI reports
Supervise 2 employees, and 85 volunteers
Interview and train new volunteers
Schedule van drivers for Doctor appointments for Residents
Pay Invoices for contractors
Pay Corporate Credit Card and match up with invoices, codes etc.
Create and Direct Group activities

Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in human services, education, or related field or equivalent experience and knowledge of aging and disability issues required
• Experience in Microsoft Office preferred

EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum 5 years' experience working with the Elderly
• Minimum 2 years' experience in management and leadership
