Job Summary/Basic Function:
Assists the Head Coach with any and all matters pertaining to the day-to-day operations of the program.
Level Scope:
Entry-level professional with limited or no prior experience to contribute on a project or work team. Incumbent learns to use professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity under close supervision while achieving day-to-day objectives. Works on developmental assignments that are initially routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision making. This level is typically focused on self development. Requires theoretical knowledge through specific education and training.
Essential Functions:
60% of the Time must:
• Assist Head Coach in all aspects of program management with any and all matters that pertain to the day to day operations of the program which may include but not limited to, housing, academics, recruiting, film exchange, on-campus and off-campus correspondence, scheduling and day to day operations.
• Athletic Business Office liaison relating to program and/or coaching staff business forms, travel authorizations or other business related items involving the program.
• Work hand in hand with the recruiting coordinator in all aspects of recruiting potential student-athletes.
• Coordinate practice times and any other needs of opponent.
• Foster and build relationships with outside donors and coach's club members to help promote the program and university.
• Organize all areas of multiple camps/clinics, including but not limited to, apparel purchase, day-to-day activities, facility rentals, etc.
• Have a strong working knowledge and understanding of all NCAA rules and regulations regarding compliance issues.
• Pass NCAA certification test (if required).
35% of the time:
• Process tennis memberships annually.
• Organize and maximize the court usage between tennis teams, members and group bookings.
• Reconcile, balance and deposit cash daily with the Athletic Business Office.
• Provides oversight of Boas Tennis/Soccer Facility day to day duties, cleanliness, and completion of work orders for building repairs and maintenance.
• Address member issues and concerns.
• Hire, train, and oversee staff to fill coverage of front desk, consisting of assisting club members with taking reservations, collecting payments, quoting rates, determining facility availability, and describing amenities to potential members.
• Effectively greet current members and prospective customers.
• Answer questions and be knowledgeable of all facets of the facility for rental purposes.
• Prepares and processes various University and Department forms for processing.
5% of the time:
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Knowledge and understanding of all NCAA rules and regulations regarding compliance issues.
• Must have sport specific coaching experience and/or playing experience and/or administrative experience
• Must have the ability to communicate well with prospective student-athletes, current student-athletes and staff, and maintain a high level of people skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Supervisory experience.
• Customer service and facility membership/scheduling experience.
• Management experience of a tennis club, soccer club, or similar facility.
