Director of Brownsville Campus and Workforce Development Exempt, Grade Level 108
Reports To: Vice President of Workforce Development
The Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing workforce development and special industry training programs and services for the college. The Director will work closely
with business and industry partners to identify and assess training needs, develop and deliver customized training programs, and provide ongoing support to businesses and their employees. The
Director will oversee all apprenticeships, apprenticeship, and pre-apprenticeship development and work closely with other college departments to ensure that dual enrollment initiatives align with
pre- apprenticeships and local workforce needs. The Director will also be responsible for helping
to secure funding for workforce development and special industry training initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement workforce development and special industry training programs and
services in collaboration with business and industry partners.
* Identify and assess the training needs of businesses and their employees.
* Develop and deliver customized training programs that meet the specific needs of businesses
and their employees.
* Provide ongoing support to businesses and their employees after training is completed.
* Secure funding for workforce development and special industry training initiatives and
apprenticeships.
* Manage and hire special industry and apprenticeship instructors.
* Implement OJT tracking tool in current and future apprenticeship programs.
* Develop and maintain relationships with business and industry partners.
* Stay up to date on the latest workforce development trends and best practices.
* Prepare and present reports to senior administration on the success of workforce development
and special industry training programs and services.
* Establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with students,
prospective students, faculty, other staff, governmental entities, and the general public that
further the college's workforce development mission.
* Participate in advisory committee meetings.
* In partnership with the VP of Student Services at the main campus, establish enrollment goals
and marketing plans to ensure Brownsville Campus programs are fully populated.
* Engage in student recruitment activities.
* Effectively communicate pertinent information to campus faculty and staff.
* Counsel/advise currently enrolled students in areas such as academic performance, attendance,
and financial aid.
* Oversee day-to-day operations of all faculty, staff, and entities performing contracted
services on the campus.
* Coordinate scheduling of campus events/facilities usage.
* Develop working relationships with local community partners.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in human resources, workforce development, education, or a related field
* 5+ years of experience in workforce development or training and development
* Experience in developing and delivering customized training programs.
* Experience in securing funding for workforce development initiatives
* Strong project management skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience in working with technical and community colleges.
* Experience in working with business and industry partners.
* Knowledge of adult learning principles
* Experience in developing and managing budgets.
