Organization Fit


* Reports to Head of Legal Transformation
* Responsible for overseeing non-legal strategic and operational aspects of the Legal Division. Works closely and collaborates with senior leadership in the Legal Division and across all functions of the company.



Purpose of Position



The Director, Strategy Planning and Execution is a critical senior leader who will bring leadership, knowledge and experience necessary to drive peak operational performance across the Legal Division. This position will support the creation and drive the execution of the overall strategy for the Legal Division and will translate the strategy into specific projects and oversee the delivery of strategic projects. Working closely with the Legal Management Committee (LMC), this role will make sure the Legal Division delivers the benefits from strategic projects and develop metrics to track the value of the benefits. This role will be a primary point of contact for Legal with Corporate Strategy and the Transformation Office.



In addition, this position will create and execute departmental communication plans, drive the overall outside counsel strategy and the Preferred Provider Network and manage other projects, as necessary.



Essential Job Responsibilities



The Director, Strategy Planning and Execution will be responsible for the following under the direction and in close coordination with the Head of Legal Transformation.




* Support the creation and drive the execution of the overall strategy for the Legal Division, including the Annual Plan (AP), Mid-Term Plan (MTP) and Legal Strategic Plan (LSP).
* Manage the execution of strategic legal projects and initiatives in alignment with the Corporate Strategic Plan
* Leads or contributes to organizational transformation initiatives in Legal as needed, in line with the Legal Division strategic plan
* Collaborate with the LMC to develop reporting and ongoing measurement against strategic initiatives and annual objectives
* Manage departmental communications including developing communication strategies, drafting key communications, maintaining global intranet sites and internal legal department information sharing sites, and providing communications support to Head of Legal Transformation and the General Counsel
* Lead and manage all outside counsel and vendor program components, including the preferred provider network and related processes and metrics, law firm and vendor relationship management, and evaluation and performance scorecards.
* Develop and maintain strong and effective working relationships and partnerships with other departments and other operational teams to align Legal resources to needs of clients with a focus on resource optimization
* Develop and implement performance and value metrics to measure client satisfaction and communicate legal value to clients and senior management
* Oversee, implement and manage training on Legal policies, coordinating with stakeholders
* Develop, implement and maintain administrative policies and procedures, including on-boarding and off-boarding Legal personnel, Legal approval process etc. to assure consistency
* Support other Legal Transformation teams and projects, including Finance and Technology, as needed









Knowledge, Experience, and Abilities Required



Required qualifications include:


* At least seven years of experience preferably in a highly matrixed, multicultural global setting as either head of a legal operations function for a law firm or legal department or as a consultant with a specialty in legal operations or organizational transformation
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
* Excellent program and project management skills
* Excellent communication (written and oral) skills, including strong presentation and executive presence
* Excellent ability to grasp legal and business issues quickly, strong analytical problem solving and decision making skills, exercise sound judgment and provide practical and constructive advice in a time-sensitive, dynamic and fast paced complex global environment
* Strong client orientation with a constructive approach to resolution of issues
* Ability to demonstrate sound and independent judgment, strategic thinking, creative thinking, prudence and maturity in complex and sensitive matters
* Results oriented team player with ability to build relationships internally and externally
* Strong problem solving skills with superior attention to detail to drive practice solutions to align with legal and business needs
* Results oriented team player and able to work in a highly collaborative business environment
* Strong leadership and planning skills
* Excellent management skills, including the ability to effectively motivate and manage a team
* Strong work ethic and ability to manage large workload, multi-task and focus on critical priorities and otherwise effectively meet client needs. Ability to produce high quality work under deadline pressures
* Excellent organization skills. Detail oriented and self- motivated
