The Director, Engineering will be responsible for management of several functions within the Carlisle Weather Proofing Technologies (CWT) engineering department responsible for Project Engineering, Process Innovation, and Engineering Support for plants.

The position will also ensure that proper technical support is provided to the plant-based engineering, maintenance, and production personnel. (+30 Plants across North America)

The position will Interact extensively within the Carlisle Construction Materials central Engineering department, Engineering Support group, and will have substantial exposure with external resources and many other central service groups (Marketing, R&D, Purchasing, Accounting, IT, etc.). Will interact frequently with Executive management on matters requiring coordination across organizational boundaries, or to report on various initiatives, funding requests, or other matters of importance to the business.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Proactively direct and manage objectives related to the areas of responsibility.
* Interface with external resources (consultants, engineering firms, vendors, etc.) to promote and develop solutions that meet or exceed CCM technical requirements.
* Work with Operations, R&D, and engineering sub-groups to facilitate transfer of knowledge associated with existing and new systems/technology to entities with ultimate responsibility.
* Mentor and develop direct reports, and others within CCM with similar technical responsibilities.
* Coordinate staff activities to maximize productivity and effectiveness of applied resources and procured capital equipment.
* Work effectively with other department leaders to drive company strategy and initiatives.
* Review, prioritize, and execute projects that support CCM business and/or Operational objectives.
* Promote, refine, and communicate Engineering standardization objectives.
* Understand the impact and implications of Engineering Services initiatives and actions, with consideration of overall company strategies, and adjust as needed to ensure ongoing alignment.

Required Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:

* Relevant experience/exposure to department budgeting and other administrative responsibilities
* Proven history in targeting and hiring skilled professionals and developing a team of technical experts that will serve/satisfy CCM's engineering needs.
* Track record of operational improvement through manufacturing methods at large companies recognized as best-in-class in manufacturing and a large footprint.
* Commanding knowledge of manufacturing processes, and associated business processes to enable a successful manufacturing operation (capital planning, new product introduction, design for manufacturing, supplier engagement, operational metrics)
* Outstanding functional expertise: ability to communicate the value proposition of the supply chain organization as a commercial asset
* Metric-oriented with strong analytical skills and the ability to comprehend broad sets of data (especially financial); technically astute; demonstrated history to act on analysis and drive impactful results

Education and Experience:

* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; Master's Degree in Engineering Management preferred.
* At least 15 years of relevant engineering project and management experience in areas related to production/manufacturing, equipment, and facility specification/procurement, and with significant exposure to the facility construction process with applicability to CCM building envelop products.
* Prior experience leading project engineers, technicians, contractors

Working Conditions:

* Typical business hours 8 AM - 5 PM, Monday through Friday
* Occasional to frequent additional applied work hours as needed to complete critical or due assignments
* Business travel will often result in applied work related hours beyond he typical work day
* Majority of work time is spent in office/administrative environment (office, conference rooms, etc.)
* While at operational sites, can be exposed to various production environments with associated potential conditions (noise, temperature, humidity, machinery, mobile equipment, raw materials, semi-finished and finished product, etc.) Note that PPE (advised or mandated) will be provided.

Travel Requirement

* Percentage of travel time expected for this position, where the travel occurs, such as locally or in specific countries or states, and whether the travel is overnight.
* Business travel associated with this position is significant as it requires familiarity with all of CCM operations, processes, and facilities. As CCM specific experience is accrued, travel requirements may diminish. Approximately 30% travel time is anticipated. Specific travel is typically premeditated and planned well in advance.
