The Manager provides leadership to a team of Information Systems professionals who are focused on delivering IS products and/or services to Mass General Brigham and affiliate organizations. S/he oversees the day-to-day activities of the team, focusing on achieving the team's deliverables on time and within budget.

The Manager provides strong human resources management, including regular feedback, timely reviews, mentoring and career conversations. S/he is responsible for attracting, retaining, developing and engaging high quality staff.

Reporting toDirector for Pathology Clinical Bioinformatics and Operations, the Manager for Development and Operations will be a thought leader with the support of management as well as good technical knowledge to be a bridge between management, operations and development teams in order to set up DevOps best practices and make sure that teams follow them. Will be responsible for supporting operations and development of clinical software applications. The leader in this role will demonstrate the ability to build a high -performance team where technical excellence, empowerment, career development and leadership and provide mentorship. The person in this position will have a demonstrated record of building relationships and collaborations between various teams and must have excellent interpersonal as well as oral and written communication skills.

  • Oversee the implementation, deployment, modification and maintenance of existing and new applications for BWH Pathology
  • Implement and document processes for regulatory purposes
  • Directly supervise the DevOps team, including recruitment and all personnel management and foster a positive team environment through leadership, mentoring, and coaching
  • Commonly assumes the role of Project Manager, managing project resources to drive project(s) to successful completion, leveraging in-depth knowledge of the clinical bioinformatics applications, related systems and workflows used to provide the solution
  • Provides appropriate and timely problem escalation reporting with potential solutions and/or risk mitigation strategies to IS and/or hospital management
  • Work closely with Pathology faculty, staff and leadership on both operational as well as strategic planning initiatives.
  • Work with MGB leaders and Institute divisions to address institutional strategies, needs, and resources.
  • Manages the day-to-day activities of a team of Information Systems professionals. Focuses on producing the team's deliverables on-time and within budget.
  • Employs service management, product management and/or project management methodologies to deliver high quality work products.
  • Consistent with Mass General Brigham's Human Resources policies, attracts, retains and develops high quality staff. Establishes and maintains a work environment conducive to high performance. Addresses the training and professional development needs of the staff.
  • Interacts with clinicians, staff and various levels of management to communicate the status of the team's efforts.
  • Promotes and encourages a high-quality customer service experience for all customers - internal and external.
  • Collaborates well with other teams to produce results.
  • May work directly with 1-2 vendors to assure delivery of contracted services and products.
  • May work on several medium to high complexity projects and/or services.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 8 or more years of clinical application and/or or health (allied, direct care) professional experience required
  • 8 or more years of coding experience in SQL, Microsoft.Net Framework is required
  • Successful experience with the SDLC, software development and/or database design is necessary; experience in a regulated clinical environment preferred
  • 3 or more years of project management exposure using established methodologies and tools in a complex environment desired
  • Experience working in a CLIA environment preferred
  • 3 or more years of a supervisory role
  • Expert level laboratory Informatics and workflow knowledge
