Spencer Gifts LLC has an immediate opening for a Customs Compliance Auditor. In this position, you would be a key part of the Supply Chain Team. Under the direction of the Customs Compliance Sr. Manager, this position is responsible for ensuring all import and export transactions are completed within applicable government rules and regulations. Position will interface with US and Canada Customs, custom brokers, freight forwarder, and internal and external customers on all matters pertaining to Customs and import/export regulations.
This position will provide analytical and technical support to facilitate the Company's global, legal, and regulatory compliance requirements with a focus on related rules and best practices. In addition, responsibilities include the validation of information provided by suppliers of Spencer Gifts LLC products to monitor adherence to the Company's requirements and standards.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Audit entry summaries to ensure data and process accuracy. Analyze and identify root cause. Implement corrective action plans as required.
  • Audit Importer Security Filings for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage duty reduction programs (duty drawback, first sale, PMS): to include research, validation, instruction and entry review.
  • Manage manufacturer database for KPI's, duty reduction programs and trusted trader list.
  • Manage post-entry program: file PSCs, protests, payments, reconciliation entries and disclosures as needed. Work with Finance Team and broker to ensure accuracy in entries and landed cost report.
  • Develop and maintain metrics as it relates to the company's import and export programs.
  • Assist Compliance Manager with programs, processes and procedures governing the use of all duty reduction programs in which the company chooses to participant.
  • Assist Compliance Manager on special projects involving Customs or vendor compliance as requested or needed.
  • Create and maintain recurring reports and analytics of import/export program KPI's for senior management. Working with broker, freight forwarder and internal partners to execute objectives.
  • Manage compliance data in various internal and external systems: PLM, MI9, and EDI messaging to freight forwarder and customs broker.
  • Manage electronic recordkeeping program; to include creation, maintenance and organization of all applicable records.
  • Support external auditors for First Sale, Duty Drawback and Customs Audits.
  • Other duties as assigned, in support of the Customs and Trade team.

What you Bring
  • 3 - 5 years of trade compliance experience, including classification and duty reduction program experience.
  • US Customs Brokerage License a plus
  • Completion of accredited Import / Export compliance training program a plus
  • Knowledge of FTA, First Sale, and duty reduction programs preferred.
  • Interest in international trade, regulatory requirements, industry guidelines and risk management.
  • Experience preferred in textiles & apparel, footwear, home goods, and electronics in accordance with classifications standards and principles of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule.
  • Flexible to change within a fast-paced environment and scope of responsibility with minimal guidance or direction.
  • The ability to utilize/manipulate large datasets to identify trends and ascertain business knowledge
  • Proficiency with MS Office, especially excel lookups, formulas, macros, charts & pivot tables.
  • Proficient understanding of Customs auditing standards.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid project management skills
