Job Summary:

The Counsel for Compliance & Privacy assists the Director, Associate General Counsel in providing legal support for all company data protection and privacy issues. The successful candidate for this role will assist in the development and implementation of the company's privacy and data security program, data handling practices, procedures, legal controls and obligations; will provide advice and guidance related to compliance with international, federal and state privacy regulations and laws; and support the negotiation of complex agreements related to digital advertising, transfer of data, use of data, security terms, and a range of other consumer privacy and information security issues.

The Counsel for Compliance & Privacy also provides legal advice and guidance on the company's ethics and compliance program, serving as a resource on questions regarding compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and the UK Bribery Act and the Office of Foreign Assets Control, economic sanctions laws and similar requirements on a global basis. This professional assists in the management of the reporting hotline and investigation triage process. The successful candidate will have experience providing legal advice and support on ethics and compliance matters.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Legal support and advice
    • Assist in providing strategic legal counsel and advice to key internal business partners regarding issues implicating ethics and compliance, data protection and privacy matters, including strategic risk assessments
    • Help manage/maintain ethics and compliance, data protection and privacy policies and processes
    • Assist in the creation and delivery of ethics and compliance, data protection and privacy oversight training, materials and tools
    • In coordination with the Manager, Compliance, monitor and maintain reporting hotline as necessary
    • Support the legal review and analysis of various processes, including due diligence, reporting requirements and expense approvals
    • Support internal investigations of violations of the code of conduct, internal policies, and laws
    • Assist with and support governmental inquiries and investigations
    • Monitor company compliance with cross-border data transfer restrictions and data localization requirements with respect to both intra-company transfers and transfers to third parties
    • Assist in the review and coordination of potential privacy or data security incidents, including investigations, notifications, and other resolution efforts
    • Support risk assessments processes and the development of related risk mitigation plans
    • Monitor current and evolving statutes, regulations, and case law and help to identify legal issues of critical importance to the company
  • Assist in supporting other legal areas of focus for management as needed

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
  • Admission to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or eligible for admission on proof of practice elsewhere
  • 5+ years of relevant legal experience
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively to achieve goals
  • Consistent ability to build relationships and leverage partners and advisors
