Job Title: Controls Building Automation Engineer:

Job Summary:

CCI is seeking Controls Building Automation Engineer (Multiple Positions) in (Salt Lake City, UT): Create complex & sophisticated databases & programming for HVAC & industrial controls equip.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Create complex and sophisticated databases and programming for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) controls and industrial controls equipment.
    • Engineer and review HVAC controls design and HVAC equipment selection and sizing. Use C++, SQL, Visual Basic, and Microsoft Visio to design front-end programming, graphics, and database management.
    • Engineer energy metering and energy dashboard systems. Use AutoCAD and Revit to provide design and programming to renovate and upgrade HVAC systems and automation systems to accommodate new technology and/or energy conservation. Complete Johnson Controls, Alerton, and Allen-Bradley PLC programming and database development using software tools proprietary to these companies.
    • Troubleshoot and program Johnson Controls direct digital control (DDC) systems and Alerton DDC systems.
    • Collaborate with CCI Mechanical's Engineering team to develop complex sequences of operations and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) for mechanical systems. Perform calculations for sizing control valves for different fluid applications.
    • Maintain a working knowledge of current network protocols and programming standards.
    • Configure and troubleshoot network devices, including routers, switches, servers, and wireless access points.
    • Design networks using local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) concepts with regard to packet routing and network segmentation for security of client systems.
    • Integrate third-party BACnet compliance devices to meet native system requirements.
    • Diagnose mechanical systems, programmable automation controls, and networking issues.
    • Ensure timely completion of assigned projects and customer satisfaction.
    • Plan and analyze assigned projects, establish schedules and project parameters, and set procedures to accomplish objectives.
    • Establish an operations budget for assigned projects.
    • Track and maintain the accuracy of the forecasted cost at completion.
    • Coordinate subcontractors, requirements, schedules, and system engineering for projects. Lead technicians in installation, maintenance, and repair tasks.
    • Oversee HVAC installation process to include corrective and preventative maintenance.
    • Facilitate customer meetings related to minimum building requirements, value engineering, energy savings, and project progress.
    • Provide network engineering/remote access for customer sites.
    • Estimate costs of mechanical and HVAC controls systems associated with projects. Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related and two (2) years of automation system programming experience on commercial or industrial mechanical systems, which must include one (1) year of experience with each of the following: AutoCAD; Microsoft Visio; C++; SQL; Visual Basic; Allen-Bradley PLC programming; Johnson Controls programming, Alerton programming, or automation software programming equivalency. All experience may be concurrent.
