We have a dynamic legal team, and you will be an integral member of our group. You will join both a regional group of legal leaders and a broader team of global legal and compliance professionals, who are committed to building a safer and more livable world. You will work closely with applicable entities to better integrate legal with our commercial team for purposes of understanding project details and effectively and efficiently protecting Fugro from exposure to risk. You will draft, review and negotiate complex commercial transactions. These contracts could be related to onshore and/or offshore work.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate NDAs, MSAs, subcontracts, and other construction and maritime-related contract terms and conditions, including prime contracts and flow-down obligations.
  • Analyze contractual terms and conditions for risk assessment and communicate such to the internal legal and commercial teams.
  • Identify and assess project risks and minimize project exposure through favorable contractual terms and communicate such to Fugro's internal legal and commercial teams.
  • Partner with and provide support to the internal commercial team in preparing and executing bids.
  • Ensure the timely issuance of insurance certificates and coordinate the execution of bank guarantees as needed.

Job Requirements
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions
  • Certification in any legal-related field such as a Contract management certificate (CCCM, CFCM, CPCM) a plus. A Bachelor's in business, pre-law, finance or a related field of study is preferred.
  • 8+ years minimum experience with contract drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing NDAs, subcontracts, and other complex construction/maritime-related contracts.
  • Extensive experience in analyzing contractual liability, relevant commercial risk, and causation.
  • Must be able to timely and effectively communicate contract terms and conditions and correlating risks.
  • Must possess the necessary experience to determine what risks are included in a contract and how to mitigate those risks as well as maintain ongoing communication regarding obligations that exist throughout the lifecycle of a project.
  • Must possess strong negotiation experience with NDAs, subcontracts, and other construction or maritime-related contracts.
  • Must possess strong confidence to successfully negotiate and execute contracts, as well as the understanding of when to walk away and stand firm.
  • Must have excellent and effective oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
