Position Summary:

The Associate Product Owner reports to the Director of Product and is a member of a cross-functional agile development scrum team and assists in defining and prioritizing the team backlog, works with the technical lead to prioritize product features, maintains conceptual and technical integrity, articulates detailed user stories, and participates in daily scrum ceremonies.

 

 Job Responsibilities:

  1. Customer and market research – Understand customer needs as well as market trends and new technologies. Regularly engage in conversations with customers and attends usability tests along with UX lead to validate the product.
  2. Requirements and effort gathering on epics - Consult with leadership, business stakeholders, legal, IT, and others. Work with subject matter experts across the organization to gather requirements, understand business rules, challenge limitations and respond to business needs. Work with product team to assess impacts of changes, manage requirement dependencies and ensure conceptual and technical integrity.
  3. Story documentation – Document the requirements for key functions deconstructing the epic into actionable user stories. Ensure that stories focus on the value the user gains from the product.
  4. Develop feature acceptance criteria – Define test/feature/analytics acceptance criteria which will confirm that a user story works as required.
  5. Backlog grooming – Lead backlog grooming to deconstruct, refine and estimate stories, add acceptance criteria and enable long-range technical planning.
  6. Be available for the team in all Scrum ceremonies – Attend scrum meetings including standups, retrospectives, and demos. Answer questions from developers and clarify requirements. Be available to any member of the team, at any time, to answer any question related to the team's current commitments .

Qualifications:

 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a suitable area such as Digital Media, Engineering, Marketing, etc.
  2. Possess 2+ years of experience working in an agile environment and understanding agile framework
  3. Understanding of software development and hardware stack for digital development
  4. Experience using collaboration tools such as Team Foundation Server, Jira, VersionOne, Confluence, Trello, Slack, etc.
  5. Basic technology stack understanding (CSS, HTML, APIs and Frameworks)
  6. Verbal and written skills to communicate effectively team members and stakeholders
  7. Ability to empathize with the respective target market (customer)
  8. Ability to handle changing priorities and to use good judgment when working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  9. Need to have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  10. Innovative mindset
  11. Confidence, drive, and enthusiasm
  12. Experience using Google Analytics or other web/digital analytics tools is a plus

 Physical Requirements:

  1. Requires travel 10% of time
