The Communications Manager is a key member of the Insurance Global Communications team responsible for developing and driving external communications and messaging for media, customer-facing employees, influencers and analysts. You will help the company create an impression, raise awareness, encourage a preference and response by press and target stakeholders to gain understanding and acceptance for the organization and its products, services and brands.

Profile: The results-driven, dynamic individual works closely with global agencies, a high performing cross-functional marketing team and other internal and external partners including senior staff in a highly matrixed environment. This position brings innovative thinking and best practices; plans, prepares and relays information concerning the organization; develops and maintains lines of communication for media and external audiences; delivers results through project management skills and contributes primarily by ensuring that operational and functional goals are delivered upon. The role contributes to the strategy of the global communications function. It is responsible for market-led communications plans and provides input to the professional direction of the discipline, setting policy and ensuring operational and functional goals are delivered. The role delivers results in fast-changing businesses and/or regulatory environments where decision-making is guided by functional strategy.

This position can be hybrid in Alpharetta, GA or remote in the US.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6 years in a communications role (public relations, integrated marketing communications or journalism); insurance, financial services, automotive or technology industry experience a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations or related field (Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English)
  • Proven experience working within or managing an agency and a track-record for delivering results
  • Global experience desired
  • Analyst relations experience a plus

Required Skills:
  • Functional Knowledge: Applies comprehensive understanding of industry standards and principles, internally and externally
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Communicates clearly and effectively with knowledge of AP Style Guidelines
  • Storyteller with the ability to take raw data and develop content for a specific audience or channel
  • Desire to learn quickly and proactively connect the dots between BU activities and stakeholders
  • Knowledge of integrated and omnichannel marketing disciplines and the role of communications in supporting business and marketing objectives
  • Delivers results using media coverage measurement tools and analysis
  • Expert skills in Microsoft Office: MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and media monitoring
  • Social media experience required to support existing social media manager with recommendations
  • Business Acumen: Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends communications best practices. Ability to multi-task, manage projects and prioritize activities. Organized and detail oriented, able to interact and contribute in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership: Manages communications strategy for multiple markets, including global geographies, working with diverse teams of managers, senior professionals and cross-functional teams. Big picture thinker who leads with vision, sets direction and thinks for the future. Demonstrates professionalism and has experience in dealing with confidential, sensitive information and reputation management activities. Ability to collaborate at all levels within the organization.
  • Problem-Solving: Thinks both creatively and analytically. Ability to work independently, including troubleshooting and problem solving. Looks beyond existing methodologies and own discipline, using a diverse range of both internal and external sources to define and resolve multi-dimensional problems.
  • Impact: Guided by functional strategy, impacts results of the department, division, or geographic region. Has accountability for end results and planning. Manages agency partners and projects. Provides input to functional or departmental strategy.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Builds relationships, persuades, and positively influences others internally and externally, including senior division executives, product experts, marketing leads, analysts, vendors or regulators. Great interpersonal and leadership skills with a can-do attitude and cultural acumen. Successful track record of collaboration, working in a highly matrixed team environment.
  • Dept Representative: Liaises with other internal and external communications groups to maximize opportunities and ensure consistency across the company with enterprise messaging including utilizing corporate branding standards.
