Position Overview

The Communications Lead is responsible for leading Internal and External Communications Strategy and Execution for the largest plant in Novelis North America. This role is a support role to the NNA Manager of Communications - Operations and a member of the Oswego leadership team. Outstanding writing, business acumen, project management and relationship building skills are required.
Responsibilities & Qualifications

Job Qualifications and Requirements

Required:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related discipline such as communications, journalism or public relations.
• At least 5 years of experience in the field of media relations/public relations/corporate communications.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Strong PC-based computer skills, including a proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, and a working knowledge of web-based technologies.

Preferred:

• Experience in communication roles with a high-profile B2B or consumer facing company with commensurate or greater revenue.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven business environment. Strong organization skills, attention to detail, sensitivity to time management and deadlines.
• Proven experience developing and working with cross-functional teams.
• Sound judgment, particularly in managing media relations and crisis communications.

Location Profile

Novelis' Oswego facility is located on Lake Ontario in north-central New York and employs approximately 1100 people. The Oswego site produces more than a billion pounds of high-quality aluminum sheet each year in order to serve our customers in the automotive beverage can and specialty markets.
