Position Overview

Novelis is hiring! $25.52/hour with full benefit package. We're looking for a Coil Finishing Operator to join the team at our Davenport, IA Finsihing facility. The Coil Finishing department works together as a team to assure smooth and efficient operation of the tension leveler and slitters (and any other equipment) with a minimum disruption or delay with the highest priority for safety, quality, and production.
Responsibilities & Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be knowledgeable and able to perform the jobs within the department.
• Primary assignment will be the TL or HV; employees will cross train and assist as needed in all areas of the department.
• Must be able to work as part of a team.

• Verbal communication skills
• Basic computer skills.
• Knowledgeable about plant safety rules and departmental safety practices.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Sets up and operates tension leveler and slitters and other equipment in the department.
• Operates material handling equipment or other allied equipment and tools. Packages product to customer specifications.
• Performs and follows standard work processes.
• Applies quality improvement processes to all functions of the job. Closely inspects product for conformance with customer requirements.
• Follows department safety practices and follows lockout procedures when cleaning, adjusting, unjamming, or serving equipment.
• Assists and provides training to less experienced operators and trainees.
• Completes any required computer entry. Completes production reports, inspection reports, and records or provides other data as necessary.
• Maintains communications with production supervisor, other employees, and other departments to coordinate metal flow and maintain operating standards. Communicates information at shift change.
• May perform or assist in maintenance of machines.

Location Profile

The finishing mill in Davenport opened in 1906 and employees more than 100 people. The facility cold rolls aluminum to a desired gauge anneals to temper levels coats and slits the rolled sheet to size. The facility produces mill finish coil and painted coil to serve the building and construction industry. Davenport Finishing has an active social responsibility committee that supports many organizations in the local community including Habitat for Humanity Riverbend Food Bank CASI and more. The facility also sponsors local events including their partnership with Junior Achievement in sponsoring and presenting at the Advanced Manufacturing Career Day.
