About This Job

The Senior Co-Brand Sales Specialist is a B2B sales position responsible for strategically growing the Consumer Credit Card portfolio through the execution of co-branded credit card programs with partner organizations. The ideal candidate will be skilled at evaluating prospects for strategic alignment with business growth goals, selling a co-brand credit card partnership with Commerce Bank, negotiating mutually beneficial agreements, and leading cross functional teams to execute an appropriate go-to-market strategy for newly launched programs. Success will be measured on well-qualified wins, new account acquisitions and increased payment volumes.

Essential Functions

  • Fill and curate a sales pipeline of well-qualified prospects capable of supporting the annual growth goals of the consumer credit card business
  • Develop and deliver a compelling sales pitch to introduce well-qualified prospects to Commerce Bank, sell the benefits of a co-brand program, and demonstrate capabilities as a business partner
  • Perform deal structuring and business case development to demonstrate profitability of new co-brand programs
  • Connect the needs of well-qualified prospects with capabilities as a business partner to recommend mutually beneficial partnerships designed to support the growth goals of both organizations
  • Respond to RFPs and/or developing business proposals that ultimately lead to the negotiation of a long-term contract to secure new business
  • Engage with well-qualified prospects at industry tradeshows or other events as a means of lead-generation and broadening network of contacts
  • Provide regular and/or ad-hoc business reviews and performance reports to consult partners on successes, challenges, and needs of the co-brand program
  • Lead a cross-functional team throughout the product build process to ensure that the new program, and its unique components, are being built according to the terms of the final agreement, and that all marketing obligations required for program launch are fulfilled
  • Negotiate mutually beneficial long-term contracts with partners, and collaborating with Commerce Bank Legal to craft a formal agreement of contract terms
  • Ensure all legal, compliance, audit and regulatory requirements are adhered to for credit card programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Strong knowledge of financial acumen
  • Ability to develop and deliver a compelling sales presentation that connects the needs of the business partner with the capabilities of Commerce Bank
  • Disciplined approach to navigating long and sometimes complex sales cycles
  • Proven track record of sales success
  • Ability to autonomously negotiate mutually beneficial, long-term contracts
  • Ability to collaborate and build a trusted working relationship with internal and external business partners
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Teams

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • 5+ years B2B sales experience required
  • Banking and payments experience preferred
