Schedule:  M-F, 8am-5pm

Employment Status:  Full-Time (.75 or greater)

Hours per Pay Period:  1.00 = 80 hours (Exempt)

Starting Wage DOE:  $28.33 - $35.69

The Clinical Risk Management RN or Social Worker assumes responsibility for one or more ofthe functional areas within Risk Management. The functional areas includeday-to-day coordination of the department's fiscal assets and personnel supportand responsibilities for risk management for areas of Billings Clinic, toinclude the acute care hospital, physician clinics and branch clinic locations.

Essential Job Functions

* Develops and oversees department cost centers to ensureadherence to organizational mission, vision, values, strategic goals, andbusiness strategies. Interprets and supports the mission and philosophy ofBillings Clinic. Responsible for promotion of, and adherence to, the elementsof Billings Clinic's Code of Business Conduct and corporate compliance program.
* Assists in the development of methodologies to fulfill theorganization's strategic initiatives for risk prevention, risk and claimsmanagement, patient safety and process improvement.
* Educates and assists Senior Leadership and Billings Clinicmanagement in identifying and capitalizing upon opportunities for improvement andfacilitate cross-functional team development, when appropriate.
Identify and arrange for consulting assistance from internalor external sources as required to meet the needs of the * Risk Managementcommittee, medical staff, or others requiring risk prevention and mitigationeducation.
* Assists in establishing and maintaining processes tomeasure customer satisfaction including analysis, routine reporting, andrecommendations on findings.
* Assists in the development and delivery of annual trainingand education in risk prevention and reduction.
* Collaboratively designs, coordinates and manages anorganizational wide Risk Management Plan that organizes both risk preventionmeasures and claims processing and management systems for the hospital,physician clinics, branch clinics and long-term care,
* Provides direction and consultation services to BillingsClinic staff as necessary in connection with malpractice and medical legalmatters.
* Provides support for resolution of serious customercomplaints, grievances and issues related to the quality of patient care and/orservices, threats of legal action, and imminent safety/risk situationsincluding mandatory reporting to FDA for serious patient/employee injury ordeath resulting from a medical device.
* Adherence to state and federal disclosure of healthinformation obligation and restrictions is critical.
* Maintains legal case files electronically and/or on paperand ensures maximum protection from discoverability.
* Actively participates in the assessment and evaluation ofliability insurance coverage and provides confidential loss analysis, activityand status reports as requested and appropriate to Billings Clinicadministration.
* Recommends defense postures and settlement values.Represents the organization at Montana Medical Legal Panels, settlementnegotiations and trials.
* Reviews and investigates occurrence and complaint reports.Recommends corrective action. Works collaboratively with the Patient SafetyDepartment on this function. Attends Patient Safety and Investigation Group(PSIRG), Patient * Safety Committee and Serious Safety Event (SSE) meetings.
* Participates on the Risk Management/Grievance Committee.Actively maintains the Risk Claim Dashboard.
* Assists the Director in the development and communicationof department specific and Billings Clinic policies and procedures.
* Providers input in both short- and long-term planning forthe department. Provides input into the development of the department annualbudget.
* Identifies need and sets goals for own personal growth anddevelopment; meets mandatory organizational and department requirements.
* Maintains competency in organizational, departmental andoutside agency environmental, employee or risk management standards relevant tojob performance.
* Facilitates root cause analysis (RCAs) and failure modeeffect analysis (FMEA).

Minimum Qualifications

Education

* BSN in Nursing or Bachelor's in Social Work
* Master's DegreePreferred

Experience

* Three years of experiencein the health care industry
* Two years of leadership experience

Certifications and Licenses

* CPHRM (Certified Professional in HealthcareRisk Management) current or within two years of employment
* Current Montana statelicense as a registered nurse or licensure in arelated behavioral sciences field such as social work
