A.T. Still University's College of Graduate Health Studies (ATSU-CGHS) is looking for a dynamic person who can provide innovative leadership to the college. The CGHS is an online college offering masters and doctoral degrees in the health sciences. The dean works remotely, attends university, college, and department meetings remotely, and attends graduation in person annually. Candidates will have an academic doctorate in a related field, 5-10 years’ experience in online education, and the ability to be ranked as professor. Experience in graduate health science education is preferred. The dean reports to the Senior Vice-President Academic Affairs academics. The position is open as of January 1, 2021 and will remain open until filled. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities and Duties:

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in:

  • Developing and implementing a strategic plan
  • Managing budget
  • Developing, supervising, and evaluating personnel
  • Overseeing curriculum development and standards
  • Assessing educational outcomes
  • Ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, and institutional/departmental policies
  • Using data to drive decision making
  • Digital marketing
  • Participating in and advancing teaching, service, and scholarship
  • Supporting student recruitment and retention efforts

The dean leads the CGHS Leadership Team to make administrative, management and leadership decisions, chairs the program Curriculum and Admissions committees, serves on internal and external committees to promote student success, works with Instructional Designers and Subject Matter Experts to ensure high quality courses, and works with Academic Advisors to ensure student retention and success.

  • Interacts in a collegial and professional manner with everyone in the CGHS and ATSU communities,
  • Excellent skills in: Computer and learning management system use, scholarly writing, budgeting, written and verbal communication, problem-solving, decision-making, critical thinking, organizing, interpersonal interactions, conflict management, and time management.

Skills/Requirements:
  • Doctoral degree in a relevant subject from an accredited university.
  • Candidate must have teaching experience along with academic/administrative experience at the level of assistant or associate dean, department head or higher in graduate education or equivalent administrative experience. Significant experience with strategic planning, budget planning, program assessment and program evaluation and accreditation. Extensive knowledge related to best practices in online education.
  • Sophisticated administrative, financial, and operational acumen. Proven collaborative leadership. The Dean shall be employed full-time and shall engage in no other gainful employment.
