A.T. Still University's College of Graduate Health Studies (CGHS) is seeking an innovative educator and leader for the position of Associate Dean of Academics, Assessment, and Curricular Innovation. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, will be a strong advocate for students, faculty and staff and will have a track record of student-centered and mission-driven decision making. The position reports to the Dean of the College of Graduate Health Studies and can work remotely. The Associate Dean of Academics, Assessment and Innovation implements and directs the activities dealing with academics within CGHS and works collaboratively with the Dean and Associate Dean of Online Operations and the Department/Program Chairs to further successful student-centered learning through:

  • Curriculum design and development
  • Faculty evaluation and professional development
  • Student enrollment, retention, and support
  • Assessment
  • Accreditation
  • Strategic planning

Major job duties include:
  • Identify opportunities for curriculum innovation and improvement while incorporating Quality Matters principles, pedagogical best practices and aligning with accrediting bodies (HLC, program specific accreditors, etc.).
  • Maintain the CGHS catalog in accordance with the University Student Catalog and University policies and procedures
    In collaboration with the CGHS Faculty Senate, maintain and publish the CGHS Faculty Handbook
  • Supervise Department/Program Chairs
  • Supervise the Instructional Designers and Analyst Academic Computing
  • Keep apprised of curricula and program policy changes and assists with implementation of new programs as needed
  • Maintain current knowledge regarding best practices in online education, specifically as it relates to instructional design and faculty interactions.
  • Create and maintain an educational environment that is supportive of student learning and that values and prioritizes equity, diversity, and inclusiveness.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of a collegial and supportive work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Additional responsibilities include:
  • Participate in meetings with Department/Program Chairs and faculty to discuss current status in regard to academic initiatives
  • Assist in the development of programmatic curricula that demonstrates alignment with University and programmatic competencies
  • Ensure quality of the educational programs including development, implementation, and assessment
  • Contribute to programmatic marketing and student recruitment efforts including, but not limited to: collaboration with internal and external marketing agencies on ad development; identify regional and national conferences and events to market CGHS programs and communicate those with the Associate Dean of Online Operations; work with
  • Department/Program Chairs to create and sustain marketable, unique curricula for the higher ed marketplace.
  • Provide budget oversight for academic programs in coordination with the program/department chair, the Business Office and the Dean.
  • Oversee assessments of faculty, students, and staff
  • Oversee all programmatic and regional accreditation efforts
  • Provide updates to the CGHS technical standards as needed
  • Identify, apply for and secure external grant opportunities, in coordination with Sponsored Programs, that align with CGHS programs and projects.
  • Promote and support internal grant opportunities for faculty.
  • Assure that department/programs employ qualified faculty to implement and teach the curriculum
  • Contribute to the development and revision of CGHS specific policies and procedures; supports and upholds university-wide policies and procedures
  • Liaison with Alumni Services

Candidates must have knowledge of and experience with assessment, accreditation, academics, course design and online education. Experience at the graduate level is preferred.
