Position Summary:

Reporting to the Regional Category Lead of Global External Supply (GES), the Category Manager is responsible for the contract supply agreements within a portfolio of contract manufacturers (CMO) and strategic suppliers. Additionally, the Category Manager is responsible for all operational, financial performance and strategic value of the portfolio.

The Category Manager will perform all procurement and contracting activities including strategic product portfolio analysis, pre-qualification, planning and negotiation with CMOs to optimize value position and customer service. As part of strategy management, continually evaluate risk and develop business continuity plans to mitigate risks.

The Category Manager will lead a cross functional team operating within a Virtual Plant Team model (VPT), working closely with all enabling functions (eg quality, supply chain, finance, technical) to deliver on performance targets ensuring full adherence to EHS, quality, supply and financial performance.

S/he is responsible for delivering annual cost improvements through portfolio/contract management and continuous improvement initiatives S/he will analyze existing CMO capabilities and evaluate new CMO partners to support product transfer/consolidation, sourcing, new product introduction and launch.

Incumbent will maintain and build relationships with our key stakeholders and supplier network including dispute resolution, problem solving and developing commercial solutions are key operational activities of the Category Manager.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Analyze CMO capabilities supporting sourcing and procurement activities and due diligence
  • Strategic portfolio analysis, pre-qualification, planning, and negotiation to optimize value position and customer service
  • Lead contract negotiations to obtain best price and service
  • Contract preparation and adherence
  • Lead a cross functional Virtual Plant Team (VPT) to execute against score card metrics including EHS, Quality, Supply and Financial performance
  • Develop and build relationships with suppliers
  • Support or lead projects to scope, timeline and budget
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Deliver annual cost improvements
  • Evaluate risk and develop business continuity plans to mitigate risk
  • Stakeholder management
  • Escalation point for issues between CMO and Zoetis
  • Lead Business Review meetings between Zoetis and Third Parties

Education, Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's /Master's Degree is required, preferably in Engineering/Operations/Supply Chain Management
  • At least 5 years' experience in Operations and / or Procurement in Human/Animal Health industry is required, including packaging (preferred)
  • At least 3 years Procurement experience and proven track record of strategic portfolio management delivering year over year savings is preferred
  • Proven world class supply operational delivery track record and third party contractual and commercial experience is required.
  • Procurement Qualification and/or Professional Chartered Status (eg. CIPS) is strongly preferred
  • Project Management Qualification (eg. Prince2) is preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma experience - Green Belt is preferred
  • Experience managing complex operational and strategic priorities, and proactive risk management (preferred)

Technical Skills:
  • Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Budgeting
  • SAP preferred

Physical requirements:

Travel 10-20%

Position may be located in Malvern, PA; Parsippany, NJ; or Kalamazoo, MI.

U.S. Remote locations may also be considered.

The following base pay range reflects the anticipated base pay for this position if a selected candidate were to
be located in (Colorado). Base pay may vary based on location and other factors.

Base Pay Range: $86,000 - $124,000

The following base pay range reflects the anticipated base pay for this position if a selected candidate were to be located in (California), (NJ Remote), (NY Remote), or (Washington). Base pay may vary based on location and
other factors.

Base Pay Range: $98,000 - $141,000

This position is eligible for short-term incentive compensation. The position is also eligible for long-term incentive.
