The Category Strategist will serve as a key constituent to internal management & external customers; development and implementation of category initiatives to meet and exceed Hershey and customer financial objectives. The Category Strategist will be an expert in the pervasive application of insights to fuel category growth. Key to role is synthesizing business trends, competitive trends, shopper insights, financial insights, etc., to identify opportunities and develop solutions to drive category growth across the store.

The Category Strategist will influence the development and implementation of category strategy & initiatives. The Category Strategist will influence and support the customers and/or Hershey 3 year and annual planning through pervasive use of insights and capabilities.


Acts as the Category Expert to ensure the execution of Strategic Business Plan using Business Development Planning Process to make topline sales plan, net sales goals and achieve sales share targets.

Collaboratively work with the retailer to uncover insights and build action plans to drive profitable market share growth.

Act as the indispensable consultative partner internally and externally, driving projects to achieve Hershey and customer financial objectives. Isolate potential growth opportunities for both the category and Hershey.

Effectively penetrate horizontally and vertically to align key stakeholders on category lead initiatives.

Utilization and application of traditional category management tools including, but not limited to: JDA (Space Management), Syndicated Data, Seasonal Navigator/SOLVE, Efficient Assortment, Inter and Intra Channel Benchmarking, Executive Summaries and Fair Share Analysis to ensure the execution and support of strategic business plan.

Support CSE's in the business planning process and with presentations to specific accounts; Support internal sales and category management leadership and departments to identify and solve for key business issues through regular and ad hoc business analysis; provide management with objective, comprehensive, consumer-based insights and actionable recommendations based upon that information

Recruit, develop and manage interns


Education: Bachelor's Degree Required

Experience: This position requires previous Category Management and/or CPG Sales experience (approximately 7-9 years), advanced analytical skills, advanced understanding of consumer\shopper behavior and market research strategies, knowledge of consumer sales industry trends and complete working knowledge of the category management process.
