Job Description:

The Carpenter with IFAS Facilities Planning and Operations inspects and performs maintenance and preventative maintenance on all UF/IFAS owned buildings. Duties will include:

  • Performs carpentry, finish carpentry, cabinet fabrication and associated preventive maintenance without the need for daily supervision. Requires use of state vehicle for traveling to work sites.

  • Assists other trades as needed. Installs plumbing, electrical, HVAC, cabinetry, and related equipment.

  • Performs various renovation tasks such as painting, paneling, drywall, and masonry. Other duties as assigned.

Expected Salary:

$19-21 hourly, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Minimum Requirements:

Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in carpentry; or a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of relevant experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Maintenance of valid Florida driver's license is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong background in finish carpentry and cabinet fabrication; at least five years of experience.
