SUMMARY

The Cargo Handler III builds the Aircraft palletizing of the freight stored in the Export Warehouse for it to be transported to its destination. This position is primarily the person that stacks the cargo on the pallet to maximize each pallet while consistently ensuring freight is placed according to weight and dimensions. This process requires skills and precision to ensure cargo is not damaged due to heavier pieces on top.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following:

  • Maintain Serviceability of Facility Equipment (Forklift, Scales, Scanners)
  • Utilizes forklift equipment to properly stack cargo onto the pallet.
  • Ensure that pallets are properly built according to the contour of the aircraft on which the pallet is being transported.
  • Ensures the ULD used is not built to over its weight capacity rating.
  • Ensures the pallet is within FAA regulations to be used on our aircraft.
  • Cross-training based on operation needs Cargo Acceptance, Buildup, and Tie-Down, Scanning, Breakdown, Staging, and all ways of handling freight.
  • Assure the security and safety of personnel and freight.
  • Reports damages and discrepancies for claims, reimbursement, and record-keeping purposes.
  • Completes required receiving reports and resolves uncomplicated problems to ensure cargo can be shipped
  • Receives and records shipment data, including weight and dimensions, Examines all documents to ensure accuracy for articles being received
  • Inputs required data such as shipper’s name, consignee, weight, and dimensions into an automated system and produce Warehouse Receipt for items being shipped.

  • No freight shifting on the pallet
  • Follow Priority Procedure
  • No water damage to the freight
  • No pallet bumping for over-dimensioned pallets
  • No damaged freight
  • Meet company attendance policy
  • Contour knowledge
  • Ensure meeting Productivity Standards


QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or CERTIFICATION:

  • High school diploma
  • Forklift certification preferred
  • Must have a valid driver's license

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in a warehouse
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have warehouse experience
  • Palletizing experience is a must

SKILLS and/or ABILITIES:

  • Works under immediate supervision.
  • Open availability to work a schedule that may require work on weekends, holidays, overtime, or schedule changes with short notice
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Be able to work in a team environment effectively
  • Ability to lift and/or move heavy items and assist others when lifting is required
  • Must be able to pull orders and stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to pay Attention to Details

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:

Job duties include but are not limited to lifting, pulling, pushing, grasping, twisting (including wrists), reaching below and overhead, standing for long periods, squatting, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and lifting heavy items. Warehouse climate conditions are subject to change without notice.

Mental, visual, and auditory acuity necessary to work with or near moving mechanical parts (i.e., cooler, dock equipment), in high, precarious places (i.e., ladder work), and cold/hot climate conditions. Ability to work in moderate and loud noise environments including, but not limited to computers, human voices, sound systems, and machinery.
