Responsibilities

The Cardiovascular Technologist I is a professional without Cath lab &/or interventional experience training to assist during diagnostic and therapeutic invasive cardiovascular procedures. He/she will train to assist the physician during the procedures and operate specialized equipment in a safe and efficient manner. The CVT I is responsible for maintaining sterile technique during procedures and assisting the Cath Lab Manager in the maintenance of a safe and efficient environment dealing primarily with adults eighteen to sixty-five, and geriatric patients over the age of sixty-five.
Qualifications

Required Minimum Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • A graduate of an associate, or baccalaureate academic program in health science (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing) is preferred
  • One year of relevant experience in a medical setting may be substituted in lieu of higher education
  • Graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular Technician program preferred
Required Minimum Experience
  • Entry level position. Work experience preferred
Required Minimum Certification
  • BLS required. ACLS required within 120 days of employment
Required Minimum Skills
  • Knowledge of invasive cardiac monitoring, coronary heart disease, cardiac H&P, and radiologic procedures preferred
  • Basic knowledge of coronary heart disease, cardiac anatomy and physiology, and radiological procedures
  • Ability to work within a team environment with individuals of varying abilities and responsibilities
  • Must be able to interact with physicians during emergencies and assist them with interpretation of data collected
  • Able to handle emergency/stressful situations. Must have good communication skills
