In this Cardiac Sonographer role, located in our Ambulatory clinic on beautiful Bainbridge Island, you will provide high-quality, diagnostic cardiac ultrasound evaluations which include anatomical, physiologic, and pathologic data to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease.

• Independently perform transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE) studies in accordance with established protocols.
• Perform pharmacologic and treadmill stress echocardiograms.
• Perform TTE, stress echocardiogram (SE) and dobutamine stress echocardiogram (DSE) studies at Virginia Mason satellite clinics on a routine basis.
• On an on-going basis, provide technical guidance/training for ultrasound students.
• Assist Cardiologists with transesophageal echocardiograms.
• Participate in on-going quality assurance, lab accreditation by The Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL), and special projects as assigned.

• Some flexibility in job location needed. Approximately one day per week may be scheduled at the main hospital campus.

Qualifications:

• Graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP)-accredited ultrasound program, and credentialing through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), required.
• New graduates require registration within one year.
• Training in cardiovascular sonography; and extensive knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, pathology and physics required
• Skill in performing echocardiographic studies in a variety of settings, including at the patient's bedside, required.
• Ability to assist immobile and/or disabled patients.
• Ability to use reasoning and deduction in making medical judgments (e.g., tailoring studies to enhance diagnostic information).
• Ability to use sound judgement in the face of emergencies.
• Ability to be patient, flexible and maintain a high level of professional behavior required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills required.

Continuing medical education credits are required to maintain credential.
