Virtual Design, Development & Validation - Modeling Lead: You will be responsible for project management, development and delivery of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models for full vehicle.

Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite 1-3 times per week.
Responsibilities

  • Project Management and leadership in planning and execution of full vehicle and subsystems models for programs to process time and consumer requirements
  • Collaborate with VDDV consumer base and develop robust statement of requirements (SoR) for each modeling event
  • Interact, proactively engage, effectively communicate and coordinate with Vehicle Performance Integration Manager/Design Release Engineer/Design Engineer/Suppliers/ Performance/Program teams to develop and refine plans for model builds while continuously assessing and mitigating risk.
  • Lead and influence globally distributed team for model builds
  • Perform risk assessment, monitor progress and enable first time quality and ontime delivery of models
  • Actively participate and contribute to department process, speed and quality improvement meetings
  • Lead conducting robust root cause and preventive action summary on quality improvement opportunities on full vehicle safety, body, trim structure (nvh) and flex models.
  • Identify & Lead efficiency and effectiveness improvement opportunities for master models builds
  • Actively apply process integration principles on day to day activities and propose improvements
  • Perform full Virtual Vehicle assembly, integration and quality checks on models
  • Stay abreast with new modeling technology and apply on the projects being implemented
  • Provide technical leadership and lead road to lab to math projects in alignment with Technology Roadmaps & Vision for modeling enterprise

Additional Job Description
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Physics
  • 8 + years relevant experience in CAE / Design core / Validation or Design Release.
  • Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) theory and application
  • Experienced with Computer aided software tools, example: ANSA, HYPERMESH, LS-DYNA, Optistruct/NASTRAN, ABAQUS, Primer, Siemens NX
  • Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) theory and application

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated skills in creating full vehicle/subsystem models and carrying out CAE standard work in safety/pedpro and/or Body /NVH/Exterior/Interior domains.
  • Knowledge of vehicle development process and multi-functional interfaces
  • Attention to detail and experience in working collaboratively with multi-functional teams
  • Strong oral & written communication skills to work effectively with business partners to meet program quality and timing while presenting program model status to all partners.
  • DFSS black belt or similar certification.
  • IT savviness with computer aided process and tools (CAD/CAE) to brainstorm and arrive at the most efficient and effective path
  • 4 + years' experience with CAE solvers and pre & post-processors such as: ANSA, Primer, Animator, LS-Dyna, Nastran, Optistruct/ Radioss, Abaqus, HyperWorks (HyperMesh / HyperView), DEP Meshworks.
  • Experience with CAD software tools and design development using NX, Teamcenter.
  • Ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary and remote/offshore distributed teams.
  • Demonstrated skills in disciplined problem solving and data analysis.
  • Masters of Engineering /MBA
