The University of Miami -UHealth has an exciting opportunity for a Nursing Director for the North Satellites. The Director of Satellite Nursing Services is ultimately responsible for effective operational management of the clinics and infusion services at current satellite Sylvester hospital based clinics. This also includes all future satellites. This responsibility includes monitoring and improving the clinical and functional effectiveness based on knowledge and implementation of best practices and adherence to standards set by regulatory agencies and professional organizations.

This position will provide strategic and operational leadership for all nursing areas at the satellites. Responsibilities also include physician and patient satisfaction, performance improvement activities, strategic planning, and the development and maintenance of nursing related policies and procedures and nursing standards of care and practice. The director will monitor the activities and operations of the assigned satellites to ensure goals and objectives are met. Develops, implements and monitors annual unit budget(s) by: Analyzing financial impact of changes in clinical activities and forecasting revenue/expenses versus approved budget. Making mid-year corrections in staffing to compensate for fluctuations in volumes/revenues and to ensure safe, efficient patient care. Developing cost/benefit analyses of new patient care services and equipment to maximize patient revenues. Oversees the daily/monthly expenditures, staffing and overtime hours and maintains them within budgetary limits Evaluates each employee's performance and provides appropriate guidance and feedback. Recruits, orients, trains, counsels, disciplines and/or recommends termination of employees as required. Recommends professional development for staff. Ensures that employees are oriented to the unit and that documentation is maintained Maintains a high-level of familiarity with systems that support clinical and business functions and provides leadership in the selection and implementation of new clinical applications/systems. Provides a supportive and stimulating learning environment for nursing students. Participates in the academic community through advisory and collaborative efforts. Ensures that the educational system is aligned with organizational needs. Collaborates with nursing programs to provide required resources, evaluate graduates. Collaborates with academia in nursing research and incorporate nursing research into practice. Works with Magnet Manager to obtain Magnet status for Satellite Engages staff and others in decision-making. Promotes decisions that are patient-centered. Provides an environment conducive to opinion-sharing. Promotes systems thinking as a value in the nursing organization. Considers the impact of nursing decisions on the health care organization as a whole. Provides leadership in building loyalty and commitment throughout the organization. Synthesizes and integrates divergent viewpoints for the good of the organization. Involves employees in decision-making. Attends and participates in CNO calls/meetings. Maintains confidentiality of all clinical, financial, employee, information ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations Attends assigned meetings and demonstrates active participation Acts as role model and maintain professional demeanor at all times. Develops and maintains clinical competency. Demonstrates professional independence in the practice of nursing. Consults internal experts when appropriate. Maintains documentation of continuing education requirements. Attends all mandatory in-services as directed Participates in professional organizations Seeks/accepts training to learn new skills and maintain current competencies. Maintains and completes Personnel Development Record as per policy. Maintains professional certifications/licensure in active status. Practices within the guidelines as set forth by the Florida Board of Nursing and ensures the same of employees Meets patients' expectation by treating them with respect and dignity. . Follows through to ensure that established expectations are satisfied; keeps customers informed of progress. Works effectively and cooperatively in groups/teams to ensure the delivery of efficient and effective patient care. Communicates effectively with administrators, directors, managers, physicians and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Demonstrates dependability/reliability by promptly reporting to work when scheduled. Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Essential Requirements):

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Current/valid Florida nursing license. MSN preferred; BSN with extensive management experience considered. Five years recent experience as a clinical director and/or manager. Oncology infusion experience Experience in an academic center or large complex facility preferred. Strong interpersonal communication skills Proven track record of building relationships with physicians, direct reports and key staff members throughout the hospital Excellent English verbal/written skills are necessary. Moderate to advance computer literacy and skills Excellent presentation skills National certification appropriate to the area of specialty
