Position Purpose:

Supply Chain professional who performs strategic purchasing functions for assigned commodities and procure goods, materials and services to ensure the company's operational needs are met

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and lead material cost reductions for activities and assigned commodities.
  • Solicit formal and informal bids, prepare bid specifications and coordinate bid process considering TCO and leveraging volume/ spend across all divisions
  • Interact with all Hendrickson departments to assure a steady flow of materials.
  • Optimize on-hand inventory days against customer order fill performance of 95% or greater for commodities assigned. Evaluate freight and inventory carrying costs to establish optimum lot sizes, frequency and timing of deliveries. Identify and champion inventory reduction initiatives.
  • Minimize company exposure of excess and obsolete material, review and drive appropriate action to reduce inventory reserve amounts
  • Identify and analyze raw material requirements. Place and track Purchase Orders with suppliers to fully support production and service demand. Maintain accurate required records and computer data pertaining to assigned suppliers and parts (e.g., weights, LT, price, contacts etc.)
  • Supports the processing of Engineering Change Notices (ECN's) by completing all Purchasing tasks for assigned commodities (e.g., RFQ, negotiation of cost, LT, PPAP, etc.)
  • Manage release of new parts, transitions between parts and revision changes.
  • Support departmental escalation policy.
  • Support cross training initiatives of the department.
  • Complete risk mitigation projects as assigned to ensure
  • Collaborate with all other Hendrickson divisions to identify and leverage total spend and/or standardization opportunities that will reduce overall costs to Hendrickson
  • Develop, audit and maintain vendor performance records and make recommendation for corrective actions were required.
  • Manage Non-conforming material and warranty process to ensure claims are resolved within allotted timeframe
  • Responsible for compiling data and submitting monthly Purchasing scorecard performance

Education and Training
  • Bachelor's Degree in Materials Management, Operations, Business Administration or related field.
  • Supply Chain concentration preferred
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2+ years' experience in supply chain work experience, planning/ purchasing in manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Organized, detailed and able to prioritize, plan, and execute multiple responsibilities and projects to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Teamwork oriented
  • Excellent PC skills and proficient in MS office software, particularly Excel.
  • Familiar with and working experience in an IATF-16949 or other Quality regulated Manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Must have extensive experience w/ERP systems such as Oracle, JDE, SAP, QAD
  • Must be attentive to detail and consistently demonstrate a high degree of accuracy

  • Need to move about inside office or production designated area.
  • Frequent movement of hands, wrists, and fingers such as typing, filing, and writing.
  • Frequent sitting and working at computer for extended periods of time
