About The Job 

The Academic Business Partner supports the Academic Divisions by serving as a Business liaison between the Divisions, People and Culture, and Finance to maintain smooth and timely processing of daily transactions. This position will coordinate the operational activities related to the Academic Division by ensuring proper records are maintained for governing bodies, strategic planning, budgeting, and talent channels. This position primarily represents multiple divisions at one time as the subject matter expert over utilization of resources and maintaining detailed records. This will include overseeing and conducting regular meetings with team members across multiple departments, as well as communicating professionally with all levels at the College. The Academic Business Partner should maintain discretion in record retention, budget discussions, and personnel changes. This position entails being exceedingly well organized, tech-savvy, working well in fast-paced environments, and enjoying daily interactions with a diverse customer.

Brief Outline of Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Partners with Division leaders in budget and strategic resource planning, understanding utilization and resource requirements, and maintaining detailed record of plans for annual budget use

  2. Supports the Division leaders in providing the operational review and approval of daily transactions and tracks the use of resources throughout the year to the detailed budget records

  3. Partners with Finance to prepare budget reports and facilitates meetings with the Division leaders to regularly review resource usage trends as compared to budget throughout the year

  4. Works as a liaison between the Divisions and Finance on unplanned budget items to coordinate budget transfer needs and document changes in budget needs throughout the year

  5. Works with the Divisions to build the annual line-item budgets and submits to Finance timely for review

  6. Attends regular trainings with Finance on utilizing tools, stays up to date on operational process updates, and assists with various College-wide trainings as new Division management team members are onboarded

  7. Serves as a liaison between Divisions and People & Culture in facilitating the daily processing of documentation through the appropriate channels as part of talent movements and changes within the Division

  8. Supports the Division leaders in providing regular updates on recruitment channels, talent selection progress for open positions, and coordinating talent selection committees’ calendars with the People & Culture team

  9. Collaborates with the People and Culture team as part of the annual budget building process to ensure the Division leads have adequate documentation related to personnel resource usage

  10. Participates in regular meetings with Division leaders in balancing long term business priorities with shorter term targets and advises leadership as to potential risks where applicable

  11. Partners with Division team members to support as the subject matter expert for those requesting uses of budget funds and where the funds are allocated (ex. documentation for consumables, contract orders, personnel action forms, budget transfers, etc.)

  12. Provides leadership team members regularly updates on approved budget initiatives and their performances to strategic plan goals, ensuring metrics/KPIs are documented accurately for use in regulatory reviews by leadership, governing bodies, and the Higher Learning Committee


 

Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills Needed:

  • Associates degree in Business, Finance or related field, required.

  • Minimum two years within an office setting experience, required.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software, with ability to learn and utilize organizational software. Banner experience is preferred.

  • Must facilitate a collaborative, team-oriented approach, with the ability to effectively communicate with college leadership, staff and instructors.

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines, multiple projects and communication with internal and external customers.

  • Strong work ethic, analytical skills and extreme attention to detail with the ability to organize data effectively.

  • Application of ethical standards to business practices and decision-making and apply the same standards to the actions of colleagues.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Assesses processes and procedures for efficiency and improvement.

  • Ability to work independently to problem solve and find solutions

  • Perform other duties as assigned.




Pay Rate: $48,000 annually
Schedule: M-F 8-5 typically
