Summary

Mass General Brigham (MGB) Global Advisory represents the new systemwide platform to provide leading advisory services and affiliation opportunities to healthcare institutions around the world. This exciting new business combines a broad existing set of capabilities from the academic medical centers and specialty hospitals within the MGB system with a significant investment program to take the business to the next level by developing and enhancing the platform and driving broad-based growth. The Business Development Specialist:

Reports to the Business Development Manager / Senior Manager and supports end-to-end deal making and business growth.

Takes direction from other senior BD professionals if/when supporting them on specific deals.

Develops close partnerships within the MGB Global Advisory team, and across the broader MGB system, to help ensure successful business growth, and overall program success.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

With direction from leadership, provides general support from lead generation through deal-making for both sales and strategic partnerships.

Provides general lead generation support for prioritized product-market targets, e.g.: pursues leads generated from MGB internal efforts; identifies leads through proactive research; performs market research on specific leads, general market dynamics/unmet needs, competitors, etc.

With guidance from leadership, consumes market data, client visions / strategic plans / business plans / etc., understands implications for MGB Global Advisory products/services and proposes solutions to meet client needs.

Develops first drafts: client-facing presentations; Initial Proposals; Project Roadmaps (e.g., high-level long-term visions and detailed near-term workstreams); Detailed Statements of Work; Services Agreements, Trademark License Agreements and Strategic Alliance Agreements.

Documents meeting minutes/action plans from client calls.

Collaborates and coordinates with Sr. Operations Manager, BD to execute on day-to-day contracting - e.g., NDAs, MOUs, proposals, definitive agreements, etc.

Uses Salesforce to track progress for all deals.

Project manages and leads execution of potential client and partner visiting delegations to MGB facilities. Provides exceptional service to these delegations.

Career trajectory may be either into more senior internally-facing operational roles, or primarily externally-facing sales/deal-making roles, depending on individual's interests and skills.

Working Conditions

Local travel to Mass General Brigham sites.

Office setting, with part-time remote work permitted.

Some early AM, night and weekend work required to accommodate international client schedules.

International travel expected, up to 4 week-long trips per year.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk; or hear; use hands to finger; handle; or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop; kneel; or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Normal office working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.

Qualifications
Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • Bachelors required.
  • Masters, or related experience, preferred.
  • Business development, sales and/or other deal-making experience preferred.

  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment, organize and prioritize work and meet tight deadlines.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop solutions that meet client needs.
  • Strong writing and PowerPoint skills - e.g., create professional externally-facing documents, presentations, proposals, agreements, etc.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to successfully negotiate and collaborate with others of different skill sets, backgrounds and level within and external to the organization.
  • Can quickly turn direction from more senior leadership into action and possesses the ability to learn quickly.
