The Business Development Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating the activities and operations of the business development department and assists the GM in developing and implementing the business development strategy, sales plan, and forecasts. In addition, the Business Development Manager will assist our Client Services Managers, Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, and other technical staff during the preparation of proposals, and in the identification of strategic opportunities and new potential clients.

In a typical day, this Manager can expect to do the following:

  • Identify and generate new clients and markets.
  • Develop customer relations including but not limited to sales leads, research, cold calling, qualifying leads, developing leads, and customer service.
  • Maintain and develop client relations for new customers and larger established existing customers, assuring all existing customer are contacted regularly to ensure customer satisfaction and develop need-based marketing relations.
  • Coordinate with Client Services Managers on all BD related activities
  • Assess and recommend potential business arrangements to further our business (JVs, mentor proteges, teaming partners)
  • Assist in overall strategy and growth.
  • Develop sales documentation including but not limited to spreadsheets, correspondence, sales proposals, presentations, and internal paperwork for new customer proposals and presentations.
  • Develop and implement a sales action plan with objectives and strategies to increase revenue and aggressively acquire new accounts.
  • Develop an effective sales presentation that is continually tested and used in the field.
  • Develop and implement a plan for closing opportunities and maintaining long-term customer relationships.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain procedures that enhance the efficiency of the business development team.
  • Attend conventions, conferences, and trade shows as needed; prepares post-event reports and analysis.
  • Keep up to date on overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Top candidates for this role will have a bachelors degree or university program certificate plus greater than ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. We expect at least four years of experience performing business development duties in the environmental services market. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Client Relationship Management (CRM) software desired.
