Leaf Group is looking for a Business Development and Yield Analyst - Media to join our team, directly responsible for growing revenue on our media properties by evaluating new ad tech vendors/partners, growing current partner relationships and driving incremental revenue across Leaf Group's portfolio of media properties

You'll Report To: Sr. Director, Business Development

A typical day as a Business Development and Yield Analyst - Media might include:

  • Optimize yield across media properties and monetization partners (SSPs)
  • Augment existing monetization efforts and help define the larger monetization strategy roadmap
  • Evaluate new business opportunities and execute across prospecting, negotiation, and implementation
  • Negotiate and redline contracts; work closely with Legal to reach final drafts
  • Interface with the various site product teams to provide project management support in rolling out new products, features, or platform revenue initiatives
  • Evaluate effectiveness of current advertising stack through reporting and continually deliver proactive recommendations for better and more effective monetization efforts, such as, but not limited to, recommendations based on A/B testing, new monetization products and enhancing our existing monetization strategy (e.g. different partners, use of audience data, partner flooring strategies).
  • Work closely with finance and accounting for accurate reporting, financial pacing and invoicing of monetization partners
  • Maintain relationships with existing monetization partners to evaluate new opportunities
You'll be successful if you have a very strong technical understanding of digital revenue partners, the publisher's monetization ecosystem and the business models within the industry. Success will also require an ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize among multiple tasks while maintaining a keen attention to detail. We need a team player who takes pride in their work, executes on projects and deadlines, and proactively finds ways to create efficiencies.

What You Have:
  • 2+ years' experience in business development, yield optimization, financial analysis or product development, preferably in an adtech or digital media setting
  • Strong balance of technical, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Expert level Excel skills for creating financial spreadsheets and conducting revenue analysis
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience with various reporting tools, web analytics, etc.
  • Have working knowledge of all different current forms of new media (display, native, video, header bidding)
  • Experience with ad serving consoles and technology
  • Knowledge of internet publishing space and digital media, and a desire to work in a dynamic space
  • Familiarity with contracts or legal background
  • Ability to work autonomously, learn quickly, but be outspoken enough to ask questions
