Budget Reporting Specialist

About the Position

The individual who excels in this position will effectively support the interim and annual budget process. This includes gathering pertinent information, preparing financial statements and monitoring business activity.

Normal Day-to-Day Work

  1. Perform monthly budget-to-actual variance reporting at the organization and department level.
  2. Analyze and report current and potential trends affecting resources.
  3. Assist Budget Reporting Manager in the preparation, analysis and distribution of organization forecasted results on a monthly basis, such as the Statement of Financial Condition, Income Statement and other analytical reports.
  4. Maintain working relationship with department managers and accounts payable department to ensure all operational expenses are booked accurately.
  5. Monitor budgets for accuracy and continue to improve processes.
  6. Review and assess accounting and financial reporting implications of general ledger transactions.
  7. Develop and maintain a working familiarity with applicable laws, regulations and interpretations governing financial statements and disclosure, including Internal Revenue Code, and GAAP.
  8. Assist with financial audit and external party reviews.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications

Here are a few skills you MUST have to be considered for this position.
  1. 1 - 3 years' experience in budgeting and/or accounting.
  2. PC proficient including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook) and the Internet.
  3. Possess organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  4. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 (file boxes, computer printer).
  5. Ability to function in a Consumer business office environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: PC, copier, telephone, etc.
  6. Travel required sometimes.


Here are a few qualifications we'd LIKE you to have to make you more suited for this position.
  1. BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
  2. Experience preparing budgets and/or financial statements for a financial institution.
  3. Prior experience with Budgeting and/or ERP Software.
  4. Working knowledge of GAAP.
  5. Proficient in Microsoft (VLookup, Pivot Tables)
  6. Excellent verbal, written, telephone and interpersonal communication skills.
