DESCRIPTION:

Benchmark Human Services is a national leader in providing programs to individuals with disabilities and mental illness. The St. Louis office is seeking qualified and caring people to work as a Board Certified Behavioral Analyst. Successful applicants will attend paid trainings to obtain required certifications.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The board certified behavior analyst (BCBA) is responsible for successfully conducting applied behavior analysis and therapy with individuals within Benchmark Human Services (BHS) or that have contracts with BHS to provide these services. The BCBA also maintains regular communication with the client's family and/or staff to promote continuity in behavioral application of strategies and to share successes as they occur. The BCBA also consults and assists the other clinicians and direct care staff in order to provide quality services for BHS clients. He or she ensures that these services achieve BHS's mission, meet our strategic objectives, goals and scorecard measurements and meet the quality standards set by BHS, its funders and its accreditation agencies.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct therapy using best practices and implement changes as client needs change based on the data and changing needs of each person and as advances in behavioral treatment and hands-on experience provide better direction.
  • Provide direct behavior analysis services. This includes planning sessions, implementing treatment plans, conducting and writing up functional behavioral assessments (FBAs), monitoring progress and changing objectives as needed, cleaning up materials and maintaining equipment as necessary and completing appropriate paperwork.
  • Create individual behavior therapy goals that are realistic and achievable in accordance with the IEP, PCP and/or ISP.
  • Record data for each goal during each session and record the data on a weekly progress note along with a weekly summary of progress detailing goals worked on, any changes or progress. The weekly data is then calculated monthly.
  • Copy and disseminate monthly progress notes to parents, service coordinators, permanent files, working files etc.
  • Write monthly reports, quarterlies, yearly progress reports, recommendations for services, consultation reports, discharge summaries etc. as needed.
  • Write monthly summaries and quarterly reports, as well as IEP goals for students from AWS who are receiving behavior therapy.
  • Record frequency and duration of therapy in order to complete monthly billing to ensure billing is accurate and up to date at all times.
  • Complete billing for additional services such as consultations, observations, presentations, trainings etc. each month.
  • Schedule new therapy clients as they are presented.
  • Maintain a caseload of a minimum of 24 billable hours per week.
  • Travel to and from family homes, BHS residential houses, schools etc. for therapy, consultation or meetings as needed and document the mileage as part of monthly reports.
  • Brainstorm with other therapists to develop ideas for special projects and work as part of a team to develop and implement ideas for these projects, including planning outings as needed and developing behavioral programming which is consistent with the goals as well as the missions and values of BHS.
  • Collaborate with other therapists as needed to ensure consistency with implementation, especially when one client is being seen by other therapists.
  • Provide consultation with other professionals including colleagues, as well as providing consultation with teachers and other professionals working with clients in the school or home settings.
  • Provide support for families by attending ISP meetings or other conferences as appropriate and on the request of families. Serve as voice and advocate for individuals
  • Provide counseling to families as appropriate for the scope and range of behavior therapy and assist families in finding resources as needed for other areas of concern in a manner keeping with ethical guidelines and within the scope and range of the field, as well as in keeping with BHS's mission and values.
  • Work with school districts and other agencies to provide consultation services.
  • Attend and contribute at weekly clinical meetings to ensure communication and cooperation among therapists and to stay current with any changes in the schedule.
  • Participate in internal committees and projects as necessary. Attend staff meetings.
  • Supervise and oversee the activities of Registered Behavioral Technicians (RBTs) and Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts (BCaBAs).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Leadership skills. Good communication skills. Ability to prioritize, problem solve, be creative, flexible, a team player, dependable and patient
  • Ability to work independently or in a group to accomplish goals
  • Understand and apply the use of technology in therapy session as well as understanding basic computer skills such as Word, Excel, and Power Point

  • Good report writing skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education: Master's's degree in Behavior Analysis and Therapy. Current license/certification or action to procure license/certification in behavior analysis has been initiated.
  • Experience: Successful work experience in conducting therapy or education. Knowledge of treatment and therapies for individuals with DD especially applied behavior analysis techniques.
  • Attend and pass trainings required for job duties, including but not limited to CPR/First Aid, Mandt, Blood Borne Pathogens, and Abuse/Neglect, stay current with trainings and schedule refresher courses as needed.

  • Maintain all certifications, licenses and trainings necessary to maintain credentials.
  • Maintain a class E driver's license, as needed.
