Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Biologist with previous experience working with desert tortoises based in Redlands to provide full-time support for a variety of projects. Travel is necessary up to 75% of the time.

What Do You Get To Do In This Position:

• Work closely with utility clients monitoring construction crews to ensure compliance with Federal and State permits and handle desert tortoises when necessary
• Perform Biological Resource Assessments for desert tortoise and describe general vegetation types
• Track compliance with all mitigation measures and permit conditions and write field reports and monitoring logs
• Provide other as-needed support to the Natural Resources Team

This Job Might Be For You If You Have The Following:

• Previous project approvals for handling desert tortoise (or equivalent experience - research, workshops, etc.)
• Experience conducting compliance monitoring in occupied desert tortoise habitat
• Experience conducting surveys and monitoring for desert tortoise
• Experience working with utilities
• Capable of performing Biological Resource Assessments and describing general vegetation types
• Experience writing field reports and monitoring logs
• Excellent verbal and written skills
• Familiar with Federal and State no-take permits
• Regulatory compliance oversight and compliance monitoring
• Utility / energy projects
