We are seeking a Biologist to support the National Institutes of Health's National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in Bethesda, MD. Responsibilities

  • Perform blotting techniques such as dot/slot and western blots; agarose and acrylamide gel electrophoresis procedures; high-throughput epitope-screening and characterization assays such as Octet biolayer interferometry; flow cytometry techniques and analysis techniques; immunological assays such as neutralization and ELISA assays.
  • Develop fast high-throughput residual DNA analytical procedures utilizing automations.
  • Perform physical chemical analysis including colorimetric content analysis, purity /impurity /affinity chromatography analysis, such as UPLC, GXII, CGE etc. and enabling characterization analysis such as mass spectrometry and others.
  • Conduct or participate in projects within a specific area or field.
  • Make observations, analyze data, and interpret results.
  • Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts.
  • Apply and interpret basic scientific or engineering principles, theories, concepts, and protocols in a limited area or field.
  • Develop solutions to problems within job scope where precedents exist.
  • Present findings at internal meetings. Begin preparing precise technical reports summaries, protocols, quantitative analyses, and maintain appropriate documentation.
  • Present findings at internal meetings and/or contribute to the preparation of manuscripts and patent applications.
  • Fully utilize and apply standard principles, theories, concepts and techniques in a limited area or field.


Qualifications

  • PhD in biochemistry, analytical chemistry or related discipline; BS 5+ years; MS 3+ years in a science related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related experience.
  • Experience with blotting techniques such as dot/sot and western blots.
  • Experience with flow cytometry techniques, immunological assays (neutralization and ELISA).
  • Experience in performing physical chemical analysis.
  • Ability to a pply and interpret basic scientific or engineering principles, theories, concepts, and protocols.
