Overview

Directly reports to the EVP, Litigation Department. Provide management and leadership to the Managing Counsel of each AmTrust staff counsel office, including operations guidance, data metric observations, underscoring focus on staff counsel model objectives and litigation best practices consistent with the best interests of AmTrust insureds. Maintain understanding of AmTrust's mission, vision, and values. Uphold the standards of the AmTrust organization.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy data driven management of staff counsel offices to maintain and improve case cycle times, maintain appropriate and efficient case inventories on a per attorney and per staff office basis, and foster strong case closure rates.
  • Analyze and assess opportunities for staff counsel growth in existing offices nationwide as well as expansion to build new offices.
  • Create and track business goals for each staff counsel office; incorporate new/improved protocols and litigation practices to achieve such business goals.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate intelligence sharing among staff counsel offices, including regular training schedules, ensure CLE goals are identified and met.
  • Schedule and conduct case strategy consultations and roundtables with the various staff counsel offices to provide collaborative litigation direction and advice for highlighted cases.
  • Makes decisions using data and analytics; holds team accountable for same.
  • Builds high performing teams by integrating a diversity of skills and personalities and creating a shared purpose and culture of trust and transparency.
  • Provides for the effective selection, engagement, development and balanced feedback, including corrective action when needed to team members to improve individual and organizational performance.
  • Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
  • Develop/maintain strong relationships with customers and business partners.


Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor from accredited law school
  • Bar certification/licensing and good standing with appropriate state Bar
  • 15 years' experience in litigation leadership roles within insurance company or private practice in a high-volume, nationwide litigation environment

Preferred:
  • Multi-office leadership experience
  • Corporate experience (insurance defense preferred)
