OVERVIEW
Responsible for Autonomous Vehicle Technology strategy, development management, and technical program execution support for major advanced engineering projects where creativity and initiative are involved as well as a high level of independent judgment. A strong technical leader that coordinates with Autonomous Vehicle Program Teams, Subsystem Management Teams (SMTs), Advanced Engineering, Purchasing, Cruise Automation, Legal and others to accelerate the availability of high-tech solutions. An AVT PEM must be able to lead teams through complex process and product development challenges.
AVT Strategy
- Responsible setting AV Technology strategy including understanding AV mission requirements over time, technology enablers & specific projects to achieve mission requirements
- Balances imperatives against AV Technology system requirements to ensure safety, performance, and cost
- Lead advanced technology strategy "wall reviews"
- Drive future cost reduction, cost curve, and forecasting activities, including leading deep component cost initiatives
- Lead program representative at supplier immersion events
- Align Advanced Engineering and R&D efforts with business and technical strategy
- Special projects including the following: new process creation/implementation, leadership requests, and what-if studies.
- Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products
AVT Execution
- Responsible executing AV Technology strategy and driving Vertical Integration across multiple cross-functional teams, on time with rigor, supplementing and working closely with Vehicle PEM
- SAP/Shopping Cart approval and process oversight
- Initiate/track program CR/DNs for AV content
- Lead resolution of advanced Autonomous Technology issues across SMT's/PIT's/Asm Plants/Cruise/IT/Legal/Purchasing/Quality
- Coordinates with Program Team members on transition from advanced to execution to implement Autonomous Technology insertion/engineering changes
- Oversee Advanced Development Strategy and execution and eliminate internal roadblocks
- Plans and implements test and/or development projects
- Travels as required
AVT Business & Partnerships Management
- Lead Technology and Process Integration Review (TaPIR)
- Lead Autonomous PET Meeting
- Support Autonomous Budget development and maintenance
- Supports critical supplier partnership/relationship development
- Lead/Represent Technology road map development and read-across
- Support Business and Technical NDA execution and oversight
- Lead development of new processes to help standardize rapid development
Additional Job DescriptionREQUIRED SKILLS
- BSE, BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Four or more years' experience in job-related area
- High level of oral and written communication skills
- Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
- Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required
- Exhibits appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals
- Specific knowledge of engineeringdiscipline (e.g. mechanics, physics, metallurgy, manufacturing methods, electronics, software, control systems) within job-related area
- High level analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
- High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
- Knowledge of engineering software and systems as it pertains to job-related area
- DFSS Green Belt Certification
PREFERRED SKILLS
- MSE, MS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding of GM innovation, ATW, release, and integration processes
- Strong understanding of GM VDP
- Program Engineering Manager or equivalent experience
- Understanding of Advanced Computing and Sensing technologies
- Understanding of agile development process
- OPEX Project involvement experience
- DFSS Back Belt Certification
