A.T. Still University (ATSU) seeks an exempt Admissions Counselor to join the Student Affairs/Admissions team on the Missouri campus. The ideal candidate will promote the goals of Admissions with the ongoing national recruitment of students for admission to ATSU programs. A strong focus on recruiting and advising prospective students and current applicants.

Applicants must be organized, work with complex schedules, work well with diverse populations, have strong oral presentation and written communication skills, be able to work well independently and with groups, and be self-motivated. Comfortable with traditional and nontraditional college students, college advisors, faculty, staff, and alumni. Extensive national travel is required. Must enjoy travel and able to travel on weekdays, evenings, and weekends.

SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will have strong organization/time management skills, travel independently, in good physical condition, will stand for extended periods of time at fairs, will need to walk various distances and be required to lift and carry supplies and set up displays. Other skills desired are the ability to multitask, work with complex schedules, and have good problem-solving skills, as well as be a flexible, team player. Being comfortable with the use of computers and virtual technology is essential to the successful candidate. A four-year college degree or equivalent experience is required.

Major Job Duties

  1. Pre-screen applications per stated goals for residential programs.
  2. Audit transcripts to assess if prerequisites and minimum requirements have been met.
  3. Remain compliant with admissions requirements and acceptance statistics for all programs within ATSU schools, and be specialists in all Residential ATSU programs.
  4. Recruitment and retention of prospective and accepted students.
    1. Present programs and coordinate logistics for student organizations, high schools, or health professionals.
    2. Develop presentations on special interest topics for prospective students, such as Personal Statements, Competitive Applications, Interviewing Effectively, Preparing for MCAT/DAT/GRE, etc.
    3. Develop presentations for the retention of accepted students, such as Student Affairs services, curriculum, Student Ambassador Q & A sessions, Leadership forums, etc.
    4. Attend regional and national conventions as assigned.
    5. Develop and coordinate comprehensive regional and national travel, in-person, or virtual event plans and itineraries.
    6. Use University credit card appropriately for travel or events and submit timely expense forms.
    7. Submit event reports on all recruitment and retention activities in a timely manner.
    8. Assist Admissions Administrative Support with vehicle maintenance (oil, license, repairs, etc) by notifying when attention is needed and keeping the van cleaned and full of gas after each use.
    9. Maintain accountability and upkeep of assigned tabletop and traveling supplies: Table Displays, laptop, iPad & accessories, table setup supplies, suitcase, tablecloth, etc.
    10. Responsibly use the inventory of recruitment supplies (i.e., brochures, giveaways).
    11. Assist with restocking materials and promotional supplies, as needed.
  5. Conduct Missouri campus tours to schools and outside groups, as needed.
  6. Advisement of prospective students through in-person and virtual meetings.
    1. Meet with (both on and off-campus) and advise prospective students, applicants, and reapplicants on ATSU academic requirements, application requirements/process, and Student Services.
    2. Provide admissions-related advising services to prospective applicants, such as evaluating personal statements or providing mock interviews.
    3. Provide on-call assistance to prospective students by answering phone calls, responding to CRM and email inquiries, and helping walk-in traffic.
    4. Correspond and develop rapport with prospective students, advisors, agencies, and professional organizations.
    5. Submitting prospective student reports, as needed.
    6. Providing feedback to unsuccessful candidates.
    7. Submit prospective student inquiries to enter into CRM and conduct appropriate follow-up.
  7. Develop relationships and connections with pre-health advisors and pre-health clubs.
    1. Maintain accurate advisor data and professional contact with pre-health advisors.
    2. Assist with coordination of mailings to provide pre-health advisors with promotional information and advertisements.
  8. Attend and assist with all Admissions sponsored events (On-campus, off-campus or virtual).
    1. Accepted Student Visit Days or Events, Advisor Visits, Open Houses, DO/DMD for the Day, and advisor recognition efforts.
    2. ATSU special events such as ATSU presidential events, Alumni reunions, Founder’s Day, Wellness Events, Orientations, Graduations, and Open Houses.
    3. Assist with hosting, conducting tours, and giving presentations during campus events.
  9. Assist with coordination and/or support of all Pathway Programs (Still Scholars, Diversity Dossiers, Hometown, MOU schools, etc.).
  10. Interview Days (in-person and/or virtual):
    1. Assist with coordinating the assembly of interview day packets prior to the start of the interview cycle.
    2. Provide assistance to and support to the interview day host, as assigned.
    3. Host interview days for KCOM (DO and Biomedical Sciences) and MOSDOH.
    4. Conducting interviews throughout the entire interview cycle.
  11. Responsible for special assignments (see list at end of job description), and assisting other Counselors or Admissions staff, as needed.
  12. Assist with the coordination and/or support of Student Ambassadors.
  13. Support KCOM Biomedical Science program students.
  14. Assist with new marketing initiatives to showcase ATSU’s residential programs.
    1. Assist with creating virtual tours or video projects to showcase ATSU’s programs or services.
    2. Coordinate revisions of Admissions forms, letters, and standard forms.
    3. Annually update the recruitment PowerPoint Presentations.
  15. Submit credit card statement reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  16. Assist with CRM implementation, updates, and maintenance.
  17. Assist with ATSU summer camps, as needed.
  18. Assist Director, Assistant Director, other Counselors, and support staff as needed.
  19. Assist Admissions Support and Coordinators, as needed.
  20. As a salaried employee, work may be required beyond a 40 hour week, with some required weekends and evening work.
  21. Perform additional tasks as assigned.
