Summary of the group:

The Bioassay Group develops and delivers fit-for-purpose, robust, and technologically advanced biological assays to progress pipeline products from research to commercial. We support end-to-end biological and bioanalytical characterization of AstraZeneca pipeline assets including mAbs, bispecifics, novel molecules, ADCs, oncolytic viruses and vaccines. We also support regulatory filings from IND to BLA and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for a broad range of bioassay development, optimization and qualification. This individual focuses principally on generating/culturing cell lines, developing cell-based assays, and carrying out biological characterization and testing of biopharmaceutical products, such as therapeutic monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, vaccine, cell and gene therapy drug candidates.
  • Responsible for performing routine lab equipment maintenance, and assisting in the identification and evaluation of new technologies.
  • The Associate Scientist will be expected to make detailed observations, analyze data, interpret results, and exercise appropriate technical discretion in the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments.
  • Prepare technical reports, SOPs and summaries for meeting presentation. The successful candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills, good time management and multi-tasking abilities, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, diverse, team-centered setting. The candidate will be expected to present findings at internal and/or external meetings.


Position Requirements:

Education:

BS or MS in Biological/Biochemical Science

Minimum of a BS with 0+ years relevant experience, preferably working with cell-based bioassay in pharmaceutical industry environment. Experience with FACS, ELISA, and SPR binding is a plus. Good documentation, writing and communication skills.

The appropriate candidate should have a biology and/or biochemistry background, experience with mammalian cell culture, cell line engineering, and good hands-on skills. Familiarity with bioanalytical instrumentations, strong computer skills, data process and other scientific analysis skills are preferred.

Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and effectively contribute to project teams

Excellent teamwork, good documentation and communication skills

Good multi-tasking, time management and organizational skills.
